Does anyone have any firm info about TV for game 2 Saturday? The MLS playoff media guide says it will be on KICU, but they have an A's game scheduled at 5 pm Saturday. I'm thinking tape delay but I haven't seen a time anywhere.

According to, ahem, Soccertv.com it's on Fox Sports Bay Area.

DishTV's guide shows absolutely no MLS Soccer for Saturday, neither FSBA, KCIU, ESPN nor the Shootout channels. Have to wait and see what happens. The Wednesday games (tomorrow's) weren't on the guide a day or two ago either.

*&%$! Looking in TV Guide, FSBA has a college football game (Oregon v. USC) at 3:30. Then UTEP @ SJSU at 7. I presume if they have to take one gridball game off the schedule it will be the first, but I also wouldn't put it past FSBA to tape delay the soccer until after the SJSU football game.

You guys can bring anyone down. ;) Here I was thinking I could watch the match live on TV before heading down the Sharks' game on Saturday (7:30), but if the Quakes are tape-delayed...ugh.

The Quakes site says TBA for Saturday's TV on their playoff page.

The PDF format official MLS playoff guide from mlsnet.com lists the match as being on KICU (Ch. 36). If that's the case, the match will definitely be televised on tape delay, because, as mentioned before, the A's/Rangers game is on at 5 PM.

WARNING: The above linked PDF, while nice, is HUGE, and if you're not on a screaming connection it may take quite a while to load.

Hilarious when you add these to what soccertv.com says (FSBA), according to Nap. Looks like broadcast hot potato.

The MLS page on the Fox Sports web page may have the TV listing when it updates to covering game 2, right now it has TV info for today's game 1.

AT&T Broadband digital cable doesn't show Saturday yet on their on-screen TV Guide (only goes up through Friday as of today), so I can't verify that way. Any satellite users whose service providers have better on-line guides who can check?

Can one of you ask Johnny if/when he stops by the tailgate this afternoon? Thx.

I goofed so I'll admit I was wrong, and so is soccertv for that matter. At the game they announced the game will be a radio only deal--I forget the name and call numbers/letters after the emotion of tonight's game...

So, at this stage, I'm as unsure as all of you--the game will have to be on some satellite feed via the shootout... the best is to stay tuned...

I do hope the Brit gets the feed so we can see the game... would love to know soon though...

The commentators for the Crew are blatantly biased in their blatant views.

I plan on using the word blatant at every blatant opportunity I blatantly can.

That's the nature of the beast. Except the Quakes or anyone for that matter to be that way.

Just focus on the play by play when hearing another team's broadcast and it will be much enjoyable. I am sounding like a broken record but Dwight Burgess is very knowledagable of the game and the league and not just the team.

This is exactly the reason why MLS should contract the season to be done by Labor Day. There's just too much big money TV traffic to get around what with college football, pro football, and baseball pennant races clogging the available outlets. And how long has it been since the Disney family of networks has broadcast a match.

But no, I hear that the MLS brass wants to extend the season into November next season. Nobody asked me, but that's a grave mistake.

It's been many beers since, but I think I heard 1460(?), which would be AM...and I cannot find anything there.

Spartacus, since you announced it, can you perhaps confirm? Thanks.

    That's it--thanks BM.

If there is no TV then I won't be making the mad dash to the Brit from the mid-Peninsula.

(extending it to November--if I remember that would be since 1999 would make MLS lost in the shuffle again but that's for another thread...)

There needs to be someone to challenge the mantle of soccertv.com but again, that's for another debate but offline...

This would be bad on so many levels, but the worst one I'm thinking of would be---away game in Chicago, say early November---can you imagine the players all frostbit and cramping from the cold? I grew up back there and trust me it's damned cold that time of year already---plus getting fans out in that kind of weather is just ridiculous...Leave that kind of masochism to the pointyball fans....Right now MLS fills the gap between the major winter sports pretty nicely, with baseball so different that a lot of fans overlap--but a casual fan with a choice of either college football or NFL, NBA or MLS is probably gonna leave us behind...I really wonder where these ideas come from, and have they ever had a discussion that hasn't been leaked to the press? I mean we've had a lot of silly ideas come out that never happened. Is there a decent way for MLS to have a brainstorming session without trumpeting the new ideas all over the press?

    What? No "listening party?" :)

Actually, Nap, I was wrong. According to today's SF Comical, the game will be on 1430 AM, KVVN. Never heard of that station. And my stereo receiver doesn't pick it up well. And it seems to be a Chinese language station.

Does that mean the broadcast is in Vietnamese? Heck, if it was in Chinese, we could ask Shaster to interpret. ;)

From what I've heard, it will be Shrader and Doyle together again on the radio.

If this has gone down the way I surmise, we all owe another major debt of gratitude to John Shrader for another example of major hustle on behalf of the club. I think this is a station John's dealt with before in his experience with SJSU -- and a station that would give him a fair deal on buying the time.

    Ok, so there's:

1430 KVVN in Santa Clara Ethnic format 1kw day/2.5kw night

    and

    1440 KVON in San Francisco News/talk 5kw day/1kw night.

    So which is it???

Like I already posted, today's Chronicle says 1430 KVVN. Easy to find out Saturday...stop the tuner at the station with Shrader and Doyle.

Today's Merc specifically mentions "No TV" for this game. :(

I'd like to echo Spartacus' kudos to Shrader for at least getting this set up. I have no idea why one of our local affiliates can't show this match on tape delay (or, God forbid, tape delay a college football game between two non-local Pac-10 teams so the local sports franchise can be shown live...).

1430/1440--easy to catch if you hear the two guys broadcasting the game in English...

Since there is no TV except for someone with pirate link, I'm skipping the listening party.

What a way to end the season--no television and no viewing party--if the Blueshirts lose...

The Direct tv sports schedule has the game listed at 4:30 our time on ch. 794 on MLS shootout package.

Is that on the program guide, or did you find it on the directvsports.com site somewhere? I'll have to check my DirecTiVo when I get home from work.

Looks like there will be tv

I just heard there is a pretty good chance that the Quakes game will be on t.v. Saturday, and live...but only available on the MLS Shootout package! Sounded like no local stations were in, so its going directly to Direct TV. This better be true
