    The debut of Nery?

I may actually go to this game, with it being on a Sunday. The FIRE have almost always played the Gals/Chivas on Thursdays, and it's a bitch to get up there and back from San Diego during the week.

If Nery is expected to play, I'll almost definitely go.

Nery starts practicing Thursday. He'll definitely play Sunday.

60 minutes into the 2nd CONCACAF Champions Leauge game tonight and I'm starting to feel pretty good about our chances. I hope CdlC is watching.

Looks like we have an incoming goalkeeper controversy + I've read DLC wants a formation change with a striker up top with Castillo. SO...

    ---------John------Castillo---------
    Pappa----------------------Nyarko-
    ----------Pause---Husidic----------
    Krol------Conde----Brown----Kinney
    -------------Johnson--------------

Lets just copy the PR Islanders playbook and we should beat them down by 3 or 4 goals? Cool? This is my lineup to do it!

Hmm... Galaxy made PR look like Morelia...

Do you guys think Nery will start? If he indeed starts training Thursday, then that's a pretty short window to acclimate and potentially work back to match fitness. I wouldn't be disappointed if he only played 25 minutes and save his starting debut for Nery v. Thierry at home.

My son already has a jersey. :)

It would be his first Fire game, but he's only 27months old. He's basically calling the shots here. :D

And I think Bone should play instead of Husidic.

FWIW, I don't see how Nery starts - unless somehow he's kept himself in game shape this whole time.

Keep Conde in the backline. I haven't been at all impressed with him in the midfield. (Though I guess one could argue that making dumb plays in the midfield is preferable to making dumb plays in the back.) Umanzor was better at DM in the SuperLiga, so I wouldn't mind seeing him there in place of Pause.

Fine as long as it keeps Pause on the bench.

Any news on Thorrington, if he can't get healthy maybe he should be the next player traded or waived.

Yeah, because Conde has been sooooooooo successful in that position over the last two months. Not.

    Try this:

    [LINEUP-4-4-2]John,McBride,Pappa,Castillo,Pause,Nyarko,Krol,Conde,Brown,Kinney,Johnson[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

At the very least we'd find out if McBride has any value to this team whatsoever. If he suddenly becomes dangerous, then he really wasn't getting good service and I owe him an apology. If, however, he can't be extremely dangerous if the first half surrounded by Pappa, Castillo and Nyarko, then send him to Philly gratis to thank them for taking Mapp off our hands.

    I like that lineup, ratdog.
Unfortunately I don't we won't see it unless we are 2 or more goals behind and into the 2nd half.

It will be as it has been. McBride and John will not start together. They will not play on the field together unless we are losing. It's too bad, because I would like to see how it would work out sometime while we aren't chasing a game.

    If
Castillo starts, it will be behind McB or John, not both. I don't mind if we see this to start...

    -----------------John-----------------
    ---------------N.A. Castillo-----------------
    Pappa-------------------------------Nyarko
    ---------------------------------------
    ------Pause/Umanz---Baggio/Lowry--------
    ---------------------------------------
    Krol------A Beast----C. James Brown----Kinney
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------Jailbait---------------

Bad week for Bruce Arena and the Galaxy in general. They're coming into this game at what is probably their lowest confidence level all season. If Nyarko is back and Castillo is ready to go, I'd feel cautiously optimistic about this game.

McBride's value to this team is as a 2nd half sub. His best games this season have been games he didn't start, and he always seems to make an immediate impact when he gets subbed in. I'd expect John and Castillo to start up top if Castillo is fit enough.

Either that or they're pissed off as hell and we're in for a royal ass-whupping.

Expect Castillo is a forward and Pause has been sooooooo successful all year. Not

I'll be at this game, anyone else making the trip? I'd like to say that I'm positive the Fire is gonna get the win, but I haven't been able to feel positive about this team like that since I became a fan back in 2000. My how expectations have shifted. While I've loved how the Galaxy has been playing less than inspired right now, I'd have to believe that, especially after their ridiculous showing against PR, they'll be out for blood. Here's hoping that the Fire can pull out a win. I'm also in agreement with Ratdog on our lineup.

True, but it's not just the Islanders game. They also tied San Jose at home, so that's 2 straight home games without a win. As you point out, I'm not sure if this works for us or against us, but they don't look as invulnerable right now as they did early in the season.

Well looks like Castillo's first game is going to be August 8th against New York Redballs. So does CDLC still want to play with two forwards (John/McBride) against Los Angels or is he going to go with only one forward (4-5-1).
