http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/la0221lamanga.html Sounds like the ref had a stick somewhere it shouldn't be. A straight red? No. Just no. Oh well. I don't imagine Torpedo was too concerned with an American team in a made-up tournament. Prof
A made up tournament that they wanted to play in.....and if they weren't concerned and are that good that they can say they aren't concerned with them why didn't they win if they r so good??? oh, from ur other post....if ur European doesn't mean ur good..... I think ur still bitter about the Revs losing to them...... Go Galaxy even if it aint my team.....
Maybe he was Zenit backup at one point, but it shouldn't have been a straight red, is what I'm saying. I'm a ref, and unless it stopped an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (most incidences outside the box are not), there should've been no card. Just an indirect. Torpedo got ripped off, and lost as a result. I have nothing (well, not much) against the Galaxy, but it seems a weird mix of countries. Russia, Noway, Sweden (Finland?) and the US. I don't see where the mix comes from. Prof
fixed your post mod note: and I fixed yours. You can go play fun & games with someone else's posts & opinions on Rivalries or some other forum, but not here.
The mix comes from: A) Spain has great weather right now for training B) All these teams are in preseason as their countries leagues don't start till March and April C) Everybody wants to play some decent competition that is new. Therefore, why not go to Spain and play at La Manga?
Aren't we making a bit too much of this insignificant match? Look, I am as big a Eurosnob as you will find, but I will readily admit that MLS is probably not too far behind the Russian Premier League. CSKA, Spartak and Lokomotiv would probably run circles around any MLS club, but the rest of the league is not much superior. Still, a quick look at the rosters (and most of Torpedo players' names are horribly misspelled, by the way) reveals that the Black-Whites were fielding a reserve squad. Only Semshov, Shirko and Prafyonov are recognizable from this bunch. Which is not surprising. After all, this is what these made-up tournaments are for: so that the reserves can fight it out for the few available spots on the roster. Throw in the fact that Russians traditionally do not play for a result in these "check matches", and the result is anything but surprising. Nothing to fight about. Really.
Yeah, Shurik, I know what you mean. The Galaxy started a bunch of guys who won't play at all this upcoming season. Oh, and one other thing. The Galaxy would pound CSKA, Lokomotiv, AND Spartak into fine powders and sprinkle them all over our oatmeal.
You've gotta be kidding me, right? Let's see the Galaxy go into Madrid and come out with a point. Please.
Unlike you, I actually do know the relative strengths of all the concerned sides. Still, considering that mouthing off is a traditional ritual of fanhood, I will not deny you this sacred right. You can also say that the USC women's team will pound on Real Madrid. And, if I know anything about behavior patterns of Spanish males, I would say that Real Madrid isn't going to mind. One thing I can say for certain. An RPL puiblication did not misspell the names of Galaxy players. As a matter of fact, no RPL publication has even printed this particular piece of earth-shattering-point-proving-giving-fans-reason-to-live news.
The picture on MLSnet.com, which claims to be depicting the man with a suspicious name Sasha Victorine "netting another goal in Spain" is quite obviously taken during last year's match against the Wiz. Another feather in the hat of the fine MLS journalists. Way to earn credibility for football, boys! Sounds like the editors should spend some time after work in a classroom, writing "Deslan Hdzhindzhal" 100 times on the blackboard.
Amazingly, I found an even worse example: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34465&perpage=40&pagenumber=2 Check it out, near the bottom of the page.
