While I hate to see our club play these friendlies and putting up a good fight to eventually go down, There is no shame in losing to one of the best football clubs in the world. That's like real madrid club de baloncesto from the euroleague getting a taste of NBA royalty (LA LAKERS of course) there would be no shame in them losing to the 16 time world champions just my thought.
I think the last thing Omar needs right now is to take on the likes of Benzema, Ronaldo, and Ozil. He is just coming back into form and going against the world's best players could really hurt him.
Id rather see none of our starters play and just use youth/reserves. We have Seattle Sunday and that is one of the biggest matches of the year! We can potentially leap frog to 3rd!
i have to give rep to Seattle who only have 1 friendly a year after their fans demanded it. why don't we do the same?
There is no need to have friendlies because both end up being played by "B" or "C" teams. The MLS league competition is more important. I can't even figure out why fans are paying big bucks to see those stupid games.
I disagree, if he can play against Real Madrid and have a great game Klinsmann might call him up for the Mexico game in 2 weeks because we have problems in the CB position. Not sure how Omar feels right now so you might be right it's too early and he just finished playing his first 90min game against FC Dallas.
That's very true and that's the opposing side to my argument. I just think the chances are much higher that Gonzo will have a difficult time stopping Ronaldo considering he has played like 2 competitive games since the MLS cup final. That could also damage his image in Jurgen's eyes as well. I am pretty sure Gonzo will likely start though regardless.
I doubt Omar will damage his image if he doesn't plays well against Real Madrid because Jurgen knows that Omar probably has some rust and it will go away as time goes by.
I hope so. Jurgen seems to have something against Omar. Even though Omar was by far the best CB in the MLS and better than the other players Jurgen was fielding, Omar still wasn't even being called in.
There was an article I read about a week ago that after he got injured in January, Jurgen talked to him saying that he thinks he is a very good player and he is in the radar for a USMNT callup.
Seattle has a sort of Barca style of ownership where all the fans are "owners" All it means is every 4 years (I think?) they get to vote out the GM if they don't feel he is doing a good job. They have more say than most MLS clubs but still its not really ownership
I dunno, if it truly is based like Barca then they have in the history voted out GMs. The fans here seem to love the current GM so it's hard to say what would happen if he truly falls out of grace. Honestly I'm surprised Sigi is still there. He has done well but hasn't taken them from a good team to a great team. Partly b/c we are there to stop them
Seattle is NOT owned by the fans. They have an "Alliance" that meets and has useless votes every so often. The chairman of the "Alliance" is none other than Drew Carey, an owner. All of this is done to cultivate a more grassroots/euro feeling they seem to love so much up there.
