Well, peoples, this is the moment we've all been waiting for and it is almost upon us. NOTE: This is predicted by the FO to be a sell-out!!! Buy your tickets today! I just bought 6 tickets total, so I get today's "Good Fan" Award. (Patting self on head). Are you going to the game? Any tailgates anywhere? For a good laugh, go over to the Revs board and read about how they think they have the best team that's ever existed. I suspect we'll douse their expectations with a cold shower of reality on opening day. GURU TOPPER'S PREDICTION: Galaxy 3, Revs 1. Don't ask me who's gonna score the goals, I'm not THAT effing clairvoyant. All I know is that we're gonna kick some serious New England Arse. I also predict that the Revs will employ a bunker n' counter strategy and that the sun will come out the next morning in the east. Your thoughts, please. Topper
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ If I get one more Friggin' recorded call (today it was Cobi) asking me to buy more tickets......
The guy I worry about on Revs is Sharlie Joseph - he seems like a real handfull. Our midfield will need to deny him the ball, but that may leave room for Ralston to operate. Our rebuilt midfield should take some of the pressure off the D and Gato. Whether that's working may be reflected in the shots on.
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ Wait a minute!!! I thought Cobi was calling me personally, he said he would love to see me and family & friends at the game, but now your saying that Cobi called you too and that he isnt real... it's just a recording to SELL more tickets. This is an outrage what happend to the days when Danny Pena would come to your house and wash your car to get you to go to the games, I think the Gal's have gotten a little big these days. Huh, Cobi
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ LOL. BTW, Please don't refer to the Los Angeles Galaxy as the "Gal's". Thank you, The Management
Starting 11 for opening day? Kev Suarez, Thug Life, Bo*, Marshall Sasha, Hertzog, Pete, Cobi* Jovan, Fish *Pending injury status (Thompson/Lewis?, Torres/Albright?) Without injuries, it looks to me that the Galaxy starting lineup is still going to be pretty tough for the rookies to get big minutes.
line up undefined Quick question about the line-up this year. 1.) is Aloisi the same Austrailian International Aloisi? 2.) Are Sasha & Pete's jobs really that secure, I thought Whoopi and Gardner were really looking good this pre-season. 3.) I'm scared if The road warriors Hawk played by Danny califf & And Animal played by Ryan Suarez are together on the field side by side. The scary part is together those dudes might see more red cards than a greeter at a Costco. 4.) Whats the secord forward line look like.... so far I got, Kirovski then Whoopi then Moreno then Torres. any alterations to this line up? 5.) how many games does Sigi-meister-general have to get a road win til we bring in Scolari from Brazil?
dear la galaxy, it's an even year, you're home is now really your home, you've shed some dead wood and picked up some impressive youngsters and veterans, you have something to prove and it begins on saturday. dear mls, i hope you enjoyed and took advantage of our misfortune last year, relish it and remember it well because you're not going to see it again. you smurf bitches, that santa barbara game was just a warmup. it's on.
I wish the match was tomorrow (3/28). I can hardly wait to get back to Sec. 138 and get rowdy again. 3:1 to LA sounds about right.
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ The Rev fans are predicting they win 2-1. The consensus here so far seems to be 3-1 in favor of us, so in the spirit of compromise I am predicting a 4-3 victory for the Galaxy. I am also predicting that I pay as much for beer and pretzels as I paid for my ticket, and that it will take me two and a half hours to drive down that mutha-effin' 405 to get to the game. Let the ass-kickin' begin....
We need to be very VERY LOUD in our support. The Riot Squad should help people get hyped. We have to let the G's know that even though last year was a train wreck, we support the team though thick and thin. As usual, I will be leaving the stadium with no voice. GO GALAXY!!!! Topper
Anyone hear of Bo's or Cobi's injury status? I heard Bo was going to have an MRI on Tuesday but I haven't heard anything.
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ 2-1 Revs? Friggin' Chowds! The Revs can't even beat LA on playstation. NO WAY NE comes into LA and steals the opener....3-1 Galazy works for me, too...
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ with what offense?
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ Perhaps this offense: Herzog to Ruiz or Kirovski who shoots & scores. Or Kirovski to Ruiz (or vice-versa) who shoots & scores. I'll go out on a limb here with my delusional prediction: Kirovski, not Albright, will have a breakout season!
Re: GALAXY vs. New Angle on Revulsion - April 3, 2004 7pm PST - Pre-game Discussion [ Obviously, the 3 big guns mentioned above, but Moreno, Ngwenya and Torres are also legit threats. The G's are much, much improved...
I think it will be a pretty balanced contest with a number of goals scored, but I've predicted a 2-2 draw; I don't see either team running away with this match. The Revolution have made a few select additions over the off-season via the draft and one player acquisition, but for the most part the team from 2003 remains intact. They've also played a pre-season schedule that's been a good bit less extensive than the Galaxy's, and that could be something New England might exploit in the opener, especially on a large field as is the case at the Home Depot Center. The biggest concern for New England remains on defense, especially with Carlos Llamosa going down with a knee injury of unknown severity in the Revolution's 6-2 win over the New Orleans Shell Shockers (PDL) this past Saturday evening. If Llamosa is out, and if Kamler's still having some problems with his Achilles, the Revs will probably field the following line-up on Saturday evening: GK: A. Brown RB: J. Heaps CB: R. Pierce CB: D. Kante LB: J. Franchino RM: S. Ralston DM: S. Joseph AM: J. Cancela LM: P. Noonan FW: T. Twellman FW: J-M Moore 'm saying goals from Twellman, Cancela (via PK), and 2 from Ruiz. The Magpie
It's fun to make predictions, but we all know that opening day can bring anything. I'm optimistic, but in the back of my mind is DC's season opener in 2000, when the G's came to RFK and ripped them 3 or 4 to 1. That marked, but didn't necessarily create, the downfall of DC to current butt-of-joke status. Point being: The only thing I'm really sure about is that the crowd will be pumped for Saturday night, but we really don't know what kind of team we've built until the game is over. Topper
5 days before the opener and we still haven't fixed our problem(lack of numbers on defense)...i saw this coming months ago...we know we don't have the most sturdy guys back there and we didn't prepare for an injury?even if llamosa is o.k but has to miss saturday's game...what if another defender gets injured on saturday...let's hope all's well...we could 've been hit a severe blow though...unless we plan on playing a 2-6-2 this year we may have problems...
Sounds like "we" means "the Revs." FWIW: Llamosa is in fact out for Saturday with a knee sprain, the true severity not known until the swelling goes down. Joseph's also picked up a knock, but it looks like he'll play. Any word on the status of Ruiz's injury?
ruiz or not the galaxy seem to be a better team than last year, certainly more offensively. How has Ngwenyu been during the preseason? is he what he was hyped up to be? 1-1 final
