Ye, so its open cup time! Are we going to win with our depleted roster? Any webcasts of this game? Is there already a thread baout this somewhere that I didn't find? This game seems to be getting too little attention.

Rumor going around that it'll be on KWHY Ch. 22 but I doubt that. I think we'll win.

So lets hope they beat Minesotta so we get to beat up on San Jose! (in titan stadium :-( I thought we were done with that crap... I hope later rounds are at the HDC)

    Can you say X-games?

New turf for the Galaxy when they get home. I hope it's better than the stuff they put down for the WWC, green sand flying everywhere.

I just hope no one ends their careers on that Metro-turf or whatever they have in that damn dome!

I was reading in the Open Cup forum thread that if we advance, the next game will be at Titan Stadium because of preparations for X-games at the HDC. I'm guessing it is the USSF's call on where to play and they wanted it to be at a "neutral" site. Had we drawn the Boulder Rapids instead of MN Thunder, we would have played at Harder Stadium in UCSB's campus.

    Hello.

The Metrodome had FieldTurf installed about a month before the baseball season began. Supposedly, it's the latest and best artificial turf out there. I've been on it and it has much better give than previous generations of the stuff. Still not grass though... :(

The Galaxy have played on it before, since it's the surface at Giants Stadium, home of the MetroStars.

Welcoming the Galaxy and their fans to the "Thunderdome", I remain

So who are we missing and who will play? Might we see Memo and Gardner actually get some PT? Should we start most of the scrubs with a few vets or half-and-half?

The Galaxy website lists Cobi, Herzog and Alrbright as "Out" for this game in addition to Califf and Vagenas, and Saragosa and Marshall as "Questionable". I'm guessing that those three guys could play if push came to shove, but Sigi is holding them out to make sure they're ready for Saturday's game.

    My lineup:

    -----------------Popik-------------------
    --Aloisi----Suarez----Bo-------Lewis--
    ---------------Victorine-----------------
    Torres---------Memo----------Gardner
    ---------Ngwenya---Moreno-----------

Subs: Kirovski, Ruiz and Grabavoy in the second half (as needed - i.e. give them some rest and don't have them play a full 90)

Looks like the probable lineup for tonight. I'm rather nervous with Lewis there so I'd rather see Broome, but I suppose we should rest him because he may start against KC on Sat.

If the stadium is called the "Thunderdome," would Suarez be that retarded guy who wore the helmet all the time and was led around by the midget (until Mel Gibson killed him)?

Hopefully the Thunder will have a better showing than the last Open Cup meeting with you guys.

Didn't Bo get tossed in the loss to Chicago in last year's Open Cup? If so, he's out for this game, which would really weaken an already very shorthanded LA defense.

Will Scot Thompson be summoned from Portland for this game?

They can't call that place The Thunderdome. My alma mater has rights to that name:

I'm going to get flamed, but I feel an upset loss coming up :-( We are just completely shorthanded, and if the subs don't actually take this game seriously we won't win.

Chill. The definition of a "sub" is someone who takes seriously any opportunity they get.

I am flaming you right now. We could stick Sigi in the middle for Bo and still win! JEEZZ...

(of course, some people would see that as an improvement)

So, no Marshall, no Califf, no Bo, no Cobi, no Herzog and, still, no Vagenas.

Wow, I bet that group has over 400 combined caps for their national teams. That's a lot of experience to be missing. LA is deep, but they are also tired - 3 games in 7 days, all on the road - and they are playing on an unfamiliar surface against a jacked opponent.

Yeah, I could see this one being an upset. Any thoughts on a lineup?

Well, not an improvement. There would be an increase in speed with Sigi in there. But he doesn't have Bo's ability to distribute the ball...

As far as losing Bo, that only requires one change to my suggested lineup. Move Lewis inside to Bo's spot and bring in Paul Broome:

    ----------------Popik-------------------
    --Aloisi----Suarez----Lewis-----Broome--
    ---------------Victorine-----------------
    Torres----------Memo-----------Gardner
    ---------Ngwenya---Moreno-------------

Despite all the games we've been playing, that lineup only includes one guy - Suarez - who has played all of the last four games. Broome and Victorine have had significant playing time - but both are in great shape and should have no problem going the distance. And if this lineup can't get it done, we still have Kirovski, Grabavoy and Ruiz to come in off the bench to finish 'em off.

No game's a given - the ball can always take a funny bounce. But this lineup could win some MLS games and should win this game. The Rooks and young un's should be chomping at the bit to show their stuff and better come out on fire...
