for the interamerican cup (concacaf winner and libertadores winner of 2000 i believe) it would be the biggest achievement in us club soccer international history if the galaxy could beat boca, and no the concacaf champions cup is not something i consider a huge international achievement. mls should enjoy this, because MFL clubs are starting to take the champions cup more seriously and are starting to use more of their A team players in the competition. This of course is also good for mls teams because the level of competition goes up.
the game will be played in los angeles, and it wouldnt surprise me if galaxy win, boca got beat by Gimnasia so they are not doing well.
uh? D. C. United already did this, beating a Brazilian team to win the Intercontinental Cup. I just cant remember which year it was.
having just returned from a football visit to Buenos Aires, I can say that a match at La Boca is unbelievable, and that Boca Juniors can absolutely do the business, despite a recent dip in form. Their right back, Ibarra, could be an attacking mid in the USA. They've got some fantastic talent. I hope the Gals kick the living *************** out of them, though.
Si senyores...soy de Boca! If Boca brings the side they brought to Houston to square off with Club America last July then they are going to lose to L.A. I've always wanted Houston to host the InterAmerican Cup every year. We have two great facilities and any side from the S.A. would have solid support in the stands. not to mention so would an MLS or MFL side also!
For the 98 Interamerican Cup when DC beat Brazil's Vasco De Gama, they played a two game series, home and away. They were both played here though, one at RFK for the DC home game, and one at Lockhart stadium for the Brazil home game. Has anyone heard if this year its a one game championship or will LA travel to La Bombonera?
