LOS ANGELES GALAXY SOAR PAST SEASON TICKET TOTAL FROM 2002 SEASON 2002 MLS Cup Champions break all time MLS season ticket revenue record just under two months out from The Home Depot Center inaugural game on June 7th PASADENA, CA (Tuesday, March 18, 2003) - Los Angeles Galaxy Vice President and General Manager Doug Hamilton announced today details on season ticket landmarks set by the 2002 MLS Cup Champions’ front office. Earlier this month the organization set an all time Galaxy record for season ticket sales, bypassing it’s previous record from the 2002 season. Additionally the team has already set a record for Major League Soccer with regard to total revenue generated from season ticket sales. Per team policy no specific numbers will be released. "We are encouraged by the response from the Southern California soccer and corporate community," said Hamilton, "Fans recognize the significance of the our new home - The Home Depot Center - and have ensured that they will be active participants in a historic year for our sport. We expect the pace to quicken even more as the season begins and awareness of the facility grows." Interest in the premium seating options at The Home Depot Center has been equally as impressive. Suite availability is extremely limited while commitments have been made for over 50% of the Club Seats. Additionally, sales for the top tier Galaxy season ticket package, Sideline Seats, are close to the 50% plateau. The Galaxy already have 50% more season ticket accounts than last year’s total. In addition, the average account value is well above 2002’s average, resulting in the organization’s ability to overtake the MLS’ previous record two months out from the June 7th inaugural game. "For me the most encouraging aspect of the 2003 sales is the increase in the number of accounts," said Hamilton, "we have more committed buyers from those emotionally or financially dedicated to the sport." The team has seen a dramatic increase in purchases by families in the dense soccer communities of South Bay and Orange County, who are reacting very positively to having the team closer to home. Targeted sales events in those areas have proven enormously successful for the 2002 MLS Cup Champions. Renewals from fans in and around the San Gabriel Valley have be encouraging, showing that fans will travel to follow the team in a world class facility. Until recently the Galaxy had only been selling full season tickets. Last week the team put its half season 10 Game Plan on sale, resulting in a new surge of sales. The team is expecting to sell out the June 7th match between ticket plans and group sales, and is encouraging fans not to wait for single tickets to go on sale to ensure seats at that and other top selling games. The L.A. Galaxy will open the 2003 MLS season on April 5 vs. the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium. Following a league record eight-game road trip, the Galaxy will open its new home The Home Depot Center on Saturday, June 7 vs. the Colorado Rapids. I love it when I get to read the article before the moderator deletes it! Seriously, I imagine LA were pretty much expected to break their rather low season ticket record with the new stadium and all. Not that it isn't good news, though!
Given that LA sold 4,111 FSE last year, a 50% increase suggest they went over 6,167 as of today. Terrific....... LA is in striking distance to catch Columbus's 7,316 number from last year.
Got MY 10-game package today from the Galaxy & I'm SOOOOOOO psyched for June 7!!! Can't wait!!! Sounds like we might break the ALL-TIME record for average attendance in a single season, which is held by Columbus IMO!!! Should be a GREAT year for Galaxy soccer & US soccer (since the HDNTC will be THE "place" for US soccer)!!!
I talk with ticketmaster worker and said single ticket hasn't go on sale yet but June 7th and July 4th are half sold mostly to season tixholders and 10 games package. Interesting!
talked to a ticket rep today. 5-game packages go on sale in "early April". single game tickets go on sale in "early May".
If there is currently only two ways to get tickets, buying a full season ticket or the 10 game package, wouldn't the number of seats sold for the games included in the 10 game package be the same for all of the games in the package, not just the opener and the 4th? So, could it then be said that the stadium is half sold for ALL 10 games included in the 10 game package? Mike
Great news. This can only encourage St. Phil in Harrison and Uncle Lamar in Frisco. Heck, it can only encourage St. Phil to doubling his effort to get the next stadium deal underway. TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!
