It is finally here! Can't wait for Saturday to get here, and I can chill out in front of the tube (can't get back for this one) with a "cold beverage" and watch some soccer. As for the game, these two squad are my favorites to make the MLS Cup final, so I'd expect a great match.
it WILL be a great match. the grass will be a mess probably, but hopefully it won't actually rain. http://www.weather.com/weather/local/43215
Unfortunately, it looks like we are in that kind of weather pattern where we get really good weather during the weekdays, then as soon as the weekend comes, the weather turns to shit. At least it won't be like it was yesterday. 32 degrees, and I was out there freezing my ass off in goal.
my club team moved practices to 4:00 on saturdays so i won't make it but i'll record it on tv. i hope you guys rock the place and i look forward to a big victory!
i think your coach should realize that these are arguably the 2 best teams in the league. practice should be a trip to CSS to watch the pros.
3 points to L.A. I would give us the 3 points... But if what i am reading should be true, a sub 40 degree game time temp. then all things are off. Right now L.A. is practicing in the high 80's and low 90's.. out here, could catch my lads off guard if the temps get super cold. Will make the match very interesting.
actually i'd agree with him. but then i'm not a crew fan. it should be a very good game anyhow assuming the forwards get some service. and if they do then i think columbus will win. not to say the fishie isn't good and all.
The only thing I worry about when we play LA is if there's enough tacos at the concession booth to feed Ruiz's first 2003 season loss.
Re: 3 points to L.A. LA beat us in March 3-4 years ago in one of the coldest games ever played in CCS. Game temp was in the 30s with a chill factor in the upper teens. It was almost as cold as the USA v Mexico game and there were only 2000 + or - in the stands. LA took it as a challenge & Hartman "warmed up" in a t-shirt to show how tough he was. Froze my ass off! We lost.
No because we have that guy named McBride. I would expect to see Buddle/McBride up top based on how they played against Panama. The game will be a sell out as 19,000 tickets have been sold as of yesterday. Should be a great game, I'm looking forward to watching it.
Well at least I can get my crew injury updates from the mlsnet 90 minutes newsletter if the dispatch won't give em to me... Columbus Crew Head Coach Greg Andrulis is wrestling with injury concerns as he works toward finalizing his starting lineup for the MLS Opening Day match against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, April 5 at Columbus Crew Stadium (4:00PM ET on ABC Sports). The personnel affected most plays on the back line. Defender Eric Denton has sat out the last two weeks with a knee aggravation and is highly doubtful for the weekend. Costa Rican defender Daniel Torres missed training on Wednesday due to a bad Achilles heel but is expected to resume practice Thursday. A third defender - Brian Dunseth - rested a hip flexor on Wednesday while midfielder Brian Maisonneuve missed practice with the flu. Thats a pretty damn banged up back line. And there went my wishes for Denton to start over Torres.
Referee Designations: CLB vs. LA Referee assignments for this weekend's match, including referee statistics. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but oh well.
Merz does his part to get you amped for this weekend with a story on Brian West's college GPA. Thanks Craig.
Well, if we're too banged up we might just see Akwari starting opening day... not sure I like the sound of that at all.
I don't get what they mean by this statistic : GS = Goals Scored (with per-game avg.) they must be goals scored by the players, but what does it have to do with the referee, why is a this significant statistic ?
more goals = more 'fans' = more money. it always comes down to money. moneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoney
the ref is the one who allows the goal. maybe it's supposed to remove any thoughts of "fixing" games??
