There is a thread talking about how people became atheist or agnostic, why not one for the opposite? How did you become religious or more religious?

    Have at it folks ;)

    Bump.

Can't believe I missed this one -- must have been refereeing the holy wars on the International forum .

So, let's hear it: How did you get your current religious and/or spiritual belief system? And Atheists/Agnostics: please give us poor, maligned Theists a chance to play without too much aggravation :)

It was on June 22, 1986 that I saw God revealed in all his glory. I was a witness. It was just after 1:00 on a hot Mexican afternoon, when God himself reached down from the heavens and extended his hand to us mere mortals. Only five minutes later he revealed himself in all his glory for the whole world to see.

The rest is history. And it's all recorded for posterity. I do not understand how anybody could still be an atheist after the events of that day.

I was out walking in the woods when an angel appeared to me and led me to unearth some platinum plates that contain the sequel to the Book of Mormon.

ya, you're right. The Book of Mormon is ridiculous. It's totally not supported in the Bible either, not in Gen. 11:9, not in Gen 49:22, not on Ps. 85:11, not in Iseah 29: 4, 11 and 18, not in Ezek. 37:19, not in John 10:16, and sure as heck not in Rev. 14:6 AHAHAHA! A bible, a Bible, we have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible! book of mormon, gets me every time. Heck, for something to be that ridiculous in the Bible, it would take... a burning bush that doesn't burn, or some dude that was swallowed by a really big fish for a few days, or something like that. A new dispensation? New scripture? That has never happened! except with Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Moses, but those are different. They are in the bible. The old testament and the new testament have always been around together, because God doesn't let new scripture be released. Stupid mormons

But the Bible is ridiculous too. The only logical way that life could come about is if about 13.7 billion years ago, there was a big bang in which a very small piece of matter exploded, and exanded into what we now call "space" and "the earth," creating life and evolution. Bible? hahaha, you crackpots!

Riddle me this. What happened to all the Peepstones? Also, how is it that Lamanite DNA has 0 Hebrew gnomes?

Of course ALL of these books are ridiculous. Mormon is merely 19th Century Scientology.

As Joseph Smith said "God says Brother Smith can bang all the sixteen year old virgins he wants and Mrs. Smith should shut the hell up about it."

One group still practices poligamy and follows a "false" prophet, and the other annoys the shit out of you with door-to-door proselatyzing.

So my post which was exactly what the original post in this thread is asking was deleted.

I guess there's not much point sticking around here then!

Bump. I've been an agnostic for the past decade or so. I've returned to theism. I've been pleasantly surprised to find Christians that aren't anti-science or about how much money the minister can make.
