"According several reports out of Venezuela, 24 year old Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero is set to join New York Red Bulls on loan. As we reported earlier this season, Red Bulls manager Juan Carlos Osorio has been targeting Cichero. Cichero is said to be looking forward to joining New York and following his fellow countryman Jorge Rojas. Cichero currently plays for Venezuelan first division side Deportivo Italia. Check back for more updates as they come."
That'd be an interesting move, if its a loan with option to buy, i'd be in favor of it. Feel free to merge this with the previous Cichero thread if need be. What do you all think?
And according to the article(my spanish is a bit rusty) but it looks like a deal could be set by Wednesday, but its more likely to be next week.

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

Now, ...For the first time we are talking sense here, this one I will call a good acquisition, a good move, this it is a 24 year old player that is hungry for a future in football and he will try to impress us and the rest of the world, ... and we will be the beneficiaries of all of this....That's the kind of players we have to look around, 8 players to fill the roster of Internationals, and keep them for a long as we can, if we sale them we will have money to buy some body else, this is a good business and good for the game...

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

Cichero is young and hungry to prove himself that he can be as good as his brother and better. At first the Red Bulls wanted to buy the player but they couldnt come to terms in price, RB being conservative and Italia being pricy. The end result is the player will come as a loan and if he impresses enough the price is already set for him to be bought.

Never anything wrong with bringing someone in with something to prove.

I will however reserve hope on this kid until I see him in action. Not enough info for me and guys like this are usually hit or miss. Still, with the limited talent at back he wouldn't have to be that good...would he.

Still want another middie with some skills and confidence on the ball.

    That is very important.

¿But, how come that every body around the world knows, that Rojas and Cichero are coming, except the Red Bulls administration?....

The RBNY FO functions like most multi-national corporation which act as if they are paranoid psychopaths (I highly recommend everyone see the documentary The Corporation BTW). So they don't tell us anything until it is a one deal!

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

Only a bunch of teams like to use the microphone much. The Red Bulls can not make anything official until the transfer window comes by and until the MLS approves. I confirm that Rojas is in New York city.

As of Cichero, he is talented kid who has lots of room for growth. I am sure he wont have an issue adapting but for certain i do not know how well he will perform

At this moment , Cichero is one of Italias FC best players and growing talent. Another Venezuelan player who was close to coming to the Red Bulls was Ronald Vargas who could of translated into one of the best players in the MLS. At this point Vargas is long gone into a EUFA team.

I agree that they can't say, ..."WE SIGN XXXX", but they could say, we are in negotiation with XXXX. Like that, we will know they are trying to compliance with us, and we will support and understand they effort and intentions...But hiding every move they do behind our backs, isn't way to go, we don't appreciate that... I walnut, no yesterday, no today and no tomorrow...

Teams generally don't announce those type of details anywhere in the world, with rare exceptions. You see stuff when players come in on trial sometimes, but other than that nothing until it becomes official. Why would you want to advertise to other potential bidders that you are in negotiations with a player, but have not quite agreed to terms yet? The only exception I can see is if one party was trying to use their leverage to put pressure on another.

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

It seems that the people in charge of the Red Bulls do not really worry much of what the fans think. I agree with you that the team should give the fans an idea on what they are doing to improve the situation but the situation may be that the Red Bulls give Osorio freedom to talk to the press as he has.

It seems that Osorio is the public press of the RB and it might be the official tactic or policy by the RB.

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

OK: lets go to the facts:

    JA Rojas is a L. Defender/L. Midfielder
G Chchero is a Defender (Don't know his flavor side) I get so is Left...
JMPietrovallo is a Defensive Mid fielder

We don't need one of them, what we need is one CAM and one Striker...After the L Defense and the L Midfielder....

Re: Gabriel Cichero joining NYRB on loan?

Osorio has already said that he thinks Rojas can play in the cam role and at this point we just need good players period. You can't possible think that our current team is in position to win a playoff series, hell we're going to have trouble making the playoffs.

It's not like we have a dominating defense right now so I have no problems with improving in that area. Are we thin up top? Yes but we are pretty thin all over and as evidence of our goal scoring problems(and Angel's) your not gonna score if your midfield can't control play and provide the forward/s with good service. Just look at the difference Blanco made to the Fire.

Hopefully Cichero signs and there are more players coming after him. Which makes me wonder if Reyna's retirement is imminent. I mean Juan Pietravallo basically play's the same position and if Reyna is healthy that makes 5 players who can play in that spot; Stammler, Mendes, Ubi, Pietravallo, Reyna. Doesn't make too much sense unless Reyna is going to retire and free up that cap space and DP spot(PLEASE!), which allow us to get a stud attacking playmaker.

that Pietravallo looks to be a beast based on the video , hope he can play like that for us if he joins , that would make our midfield of the most dominant in mls

So we are getting Cichero and Jimenez?

Does this mean we are reverting to a back four, or could it be played like

    Jimenez,Cichero,Parke across the back line?

Throw Freeman in there, he's played quite a bit when healthy.
