FYI: Richmond Kickers vs Montreal Impact on FSW Tonight!

In case you forgot Richmond's match against Montreal will be televised live on Fox Sports World tonight at 8:00pm EST.

This is a great chance for us to see the strikers that Sormun swears will solve all our scoring problems.

    ;)

Here's the web site for the Kickers' roster:

    http://www.richmondkickers.com/players/dotsenko.htm

One of their forwards, Ihor Dotsenko #21, was born in Kiev, Dema's home town. Nothing on the Kickers' web site indicates how many, if any, opponents legs he has broken.

Montreal plays tomorrow night in VA Beach as well. Brutal scheduling. My wife and I will be there tomorrow night. Wish her cousin's got FSW here.

I am watching them now as well, and at least they are shooting the ball anywhere inside 25 yards. Thats all we need.

Right now, Molesto is the best player according to the announcers (51st minute)

I think the guys sornum has talked about must have been injured because that team really sucked. The only forward they played with was Kevin Jeffrie and he has been at the A League level for quite awhile and also is not a regular for T&T. There is no chance that any of their forwards could help United.

I really do not know what game ya are waching ?? It was obvious to me that the Montreal has a very impressive defense and on top of that they "bunkered" after the first goal. I tell ya right now : we do not have a defense as good as Montreal has !! KJ, the Richmond striker, I was talking about did play OK, taking into account that he was without the other Richmond's regular striker.
Remember this, at this time DCU cannot beat either A-league teams !!!

You were not impress by the game !! Too bad, the game was played on a slipery surface but, it did have a better pace than any of the DCU games played so far, when DCU was in attacking "mod".

Unfortunatelly, we are not going to play the Kickers or Montreal for that matter, any time soon, for me to be able to prove my point.

This striker, KJ, has very good speed , good ball control has no fear to take the defenders head on and has talent. We are missing a striker like that, compare to him Quaranta is a junior !!!

KJ never beat a defender 1 v 1 and had one open header near the end (not sure if they called him offside or not but he was) and he knocked it off the crossbar. If that makes him the perfect United striker, then sign him up.

Sormun, my good friend, you are simply unbelievable..

Whenever you trumpet out one of your theories on how United can improve and it turns around and bites you on the arse, you always make excuses..

    1. Montreal bunkered after the first goal

    2. Slippery conditions

    3. United's defense is not as good as Montreal's, despite being tied for 3rd best in MLS..

Did I miss anything? Feel free to pile on more excuses....

By the way, the other forward missing for Richmond was Greg Simmonds, a player who played for both Miami and United in past MLS seasons and never made any impact whatsoever in his brief time in MLS..

I was fairly impressed by KJ (this was the first game that I have seen him play) but I was less than thrilled with Richmond's attack. What is it with all of these coaches playing a 3-5-1? Has their coach been studying with Hudson/Trask? If so, too bad.

I think later in the game, as they fell behind, they started to attack more and looked better. But why were they basically bunkered at home? I would have expected that from Montreal, but not from Richmond.

I liked what I saw of Montreal's midfield and forwards. And although they were playing defend & counter-attack football, they weren't bunkered until after they scored. (But they went into that way too soon, IMHO.)

Sormun, there was no-one on either team's defense who would make me want to exchange them with any of our own. Our offense may not be able to score in a Thailand brothel, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with our defense.

Ray Goodlett did score the goal for the Kickers but before that it seemed like he kept passing to the team in blue jerseys.

A fine game, well televised, great pitch, good stadium, but lacking fans. Get the word out on the A-League fellas, it's a jewel that's largely ignored. Also support Fox Sports World. Posters' have been whining for a soccer channel, and FSW is as close as we can get. Cheers from a Timbers fan.

Testo's good...real good. Hats off to him for realizing that he wasn't quite ready to play at the MLS level, so he's getting games in the A-League. I think he'll be in MLS next year or maybe the year after.

For what it's worth, I think this is where Brian Carroll should be, until he's ready to step in and contribute.
