Where I live I don't get but maybe one Serie A match per week, and the highlights on FSW are few and far between.....So I was curious if those who are more familiar with Serie A's action could answer my question. Is Italy's national team in trouble in the future? I was looking at the U 21 roster for today's match against Switzerland's U 21s, and not too many of the names on the list excited me or were familiar to me. As I've said.....I'm not very well informed about Serie A, but it seems as though our U 21s are of a lesser quality than those of other countries (ie. England, France). I was also curious if the national team could maintain the same level of play and caliber with those U 21s once they enter into the senior squad. Any ideas or comments are welcome.......I'd like to see what everyone else has to say..............As for me.........I'm worried about the future of Italy's nats..... :(

I think you (we) should watch today's game to get a better idea of the future. There are a lot of new players called up by Trap for this one, leaving players like Totti, Inzaghi and Del Piero at home.

You have nothing to worry about in the Italian National Team. They are and always will be one of the top teams in the world. They currently have tons of youth and talent and could right now field a team that could win a world cup with the oldest player being 26 years old. They have tons of talent and youth.

I was just reading an article the other week that England's FA program has approached the Italian federation in help with their youth program. The Italian Federation has always had a great youth programming in developing new talent and England has been having quite some problems over the past decade so that should pretty much answer your question.

The article went on to say that Italy, Brazil, and Argentina had the best youth talent each decade.

How can a bunch of young bucks win the world cup when a bunch of Serie A vets can't even make it past the round of 16?

Sorry for the skepticism, but the Italian National team is overrated in my opinion.

Currently, the defense is in need of a remodeling and the midfield is atrocious, IMHO.

The midfield is atrocious because of selection, not talent pool. The fact that its hard for Ambrosini, Fiore, Perotta et all to be picked over Tommassi and/or Zanetti shows that.
