I strongly believe that there needs to be a video game that is devoted to the MLS, along with a few select other leagues around the world. This would include the right updated rosters with improved player and team ratings. Also I would like to see the soccer stadiums that these teams play in, such as the Home Depot Center (LA Galaxy and soon to be Chivas USA), Crew Stadium, Gillette Stadium (home to my Revs) and perhaps the new Harrison, New Jersey stadium. I would also like to add to that list the new stadiums being built in Bridgeview, IL, Frisco, TX, and Washington,DC. These new venues would be based on the official architectual renderings when they become available. Perhaps a company like Konami or EA could do it. Yes we have FIFA and I actually enjoy this franchise, but their MLS version is not that good and is missing the proper stadiums and rosters. Konami has a terrific soccer game in Winning Eleven 7 but lacks the official team and player licenses. I have faith in both of these companies to produce an excellent MLS game its just that they need key input from the American soccer fans who care deeply about this league and who follow it on a day to day, year to year basis. I have also heard that Freddy Adu is close to signing on with a major video game maker and a wireless gaming system, which should give the MLS some good publicity. This was reported in one of the newspapers that I read online.
Here is the piece on Freddy Adu in the Washington Post by Jason La Canfora on the potential video game deal. The article is: With United He Stands. "Adu's commercial with Pele for Sierra Mist, a soft drink, began airing during ABC's national telecast of this game and deals with an electronic video game maker and a wireless video game system will be announced shortly, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations."
Actually there was one called MLS ExtraTime 2002, with Jack Edwards as commentary, it played similar to WE4 or 5, as it was made Early 2002, late 2001.
not sure if you saw the thread about the Concacaf file that i've put together... it isnt "officially sponsored" but it does include the MLS (and a bunch of A-league teams) and it was put together by "american soccer fans who care bout this league..."
Does any league have a game of its own aside from MLS? What other "select" leagues would you want to include in the game you're imagining? How would you propose to sell a game outside the US to gamers whose favorite team is already in both FIFA and WE/PES? I'm wondering why we can't simply ask Konami to include two or three MLS teams in the next WE release. Rosters are a problem for every team. That said, I agree with you in part. I'd like to see a game (with both domestic league and WE Master League capability and WE gameplay) released as a blank slate where you could purchase PS2 memory cards or a hotrodded version of the card with whatever league(s), stadia, chants, etc. you wanted. I've never seen a game with complete Central American, South American, African or Australian leagues included. If you want MLS to cut line on all these leagues and claim a game (other than Extratime '02) all to itself less than ten years into its existence, you need to have a plan to sell units.
there was a mls game ,and im sure it was so succsesful and made so much money that they decided not to make another one.
