thanks thank you what does it look like for establishing a league in the US or who is making the national team in futsal, when do qualifiers start....
Re: thanks As far as a pro league goes, don't hold your breath. There was supposed to be one start up in the Southwest last year, but they decided to wait a year and focus on the Northeast, and that's the last anyone has heard from them. It was going to be a semi-pro league (PDL or D3 level), so it's effect on futsal in the US would have been minimal anyway. If I was going to do it, I'd get the USL to re-activate the I-League, and use A-League and D3 teams, with the hopes of eventually having a separate entity in the USL again, as well as a major league someday. Qualifiying for the 2004 Indoor World Cup will probably begin in early 2004. The US national team is usually picked a few months ahead of time from what is now the MISL (US Soccer, not US Futsal, picks the team, from what I understand). Since they don't play futsal, and the original team members have mostly "aged out," we can no longer expect much. The US was once a power on the international scene, but now can't even beat Cuba in the WC qualifying, and they got beat by Brazil 9-1 in a recent tournament in Milwaukee. Unless things change, futsal will be doomed to being a regional recreational sport in the US. It's "broke," but no one will step in, or step aside, and allow it to be fixed. Sad.
Re: Re: Futsal news Here's another one for you, the yahoo! Futsal-English group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/futsal-english/ Here you can read and post messages concerning futsal, especially in the US, Canada and Australia. it's very informative, and always up-to-date.

The US Futsal website says you can email them to ask about teams or leagues. But the website has not been updated lately. The US Youth Futsal program makes noise but doesn't seem to really do anything. I live near NYC, and there are a lot of youth futsal leagues that play in the winter, but we're having trouble finding adult futsal leagues.
Actually, US national futsal team coach Keith Tozer is doing quite a bit with youth futsal lately including creation of national youth futsal teams,
The problem with US Futsal is there are too many organizing bodies. USSF, USFF, USA futsal? Someone needs to take the lead.
Hey, now, Syd, futsal is totally taking over. Don't you know that? All of the indoor facilities in random places populated by anonymous people are completely converting to futsal courts. Just you wait, in 2004 or 2007 or 2009 at the latest, futsal is going to be HUGE.
Annnnnnnnd, here we go again. Honest to God, there are very few things in life I am 100% sure of, but one of them is that futsal as a spectator sport will not work in this country. There will not be a league with Arizona as its base. Or any state, for that matter. Won't happen.
Its interesting to read. I can't imagine the suns letting another sport take up practice time on their court game day. Smells fishy to me.
It's interesting that they deleted the post that said they had come to a deal with the Suns. It sounded like a no-way situation from the get-go m
After reading the whole blurb about the "wonderful sport of futsal" I have to admit they have something there. Probably a 12 year old kid.
Is this some sort of snobbery rooted in the belief that errant passes and shots should just bounce off a wall and stay in play?
Nope. It's rooted in the belief that futsal is just like outdoor, except without all the excitement. And that futsal is what baseball would be like if all you could ever hit in baseball were singles. But the ball staying in play is not a bad differentiator. At least for spectators. I know all about futsal's virtues as a training tool. But Americans will never ever pay to watch it played.
I read the owner of this supposed MLF also owns Real Phoenix FC which was awarded the 1st MLF Franchise. I wonder how that happened and how much they paid to join? I guess Real Phoenix FC also played in the PASL-Pro where he didn't pay players with contracts for their last several games. Ouch! So has this team the Phx Falcons FC been awarded a franchise in this MLF because if they haven't how can it be considered an actual and "historical" professional event? Fishy it does smell DCUnitedTV
I would suspect that Real Phoenix also invented the MiLF so all they had to do to join is update the Facebook page.
