Real Madrid kicked out of Copa del Rey due to using a suspended player.

I think I remember a goal like that on Spain about a decade ago. Goalscorer got red carded i think. Gonna look for the video.

maybe it fell under this category?

    Cautions for unsporting behaviour
    • acts in a manner which shows a lack of respect for the game (kinda vague and could be anything)

The truth is that referees can call anything they want in a game. They're omnipotent within the rules of the game, and the rules are such as to leave enough leeway for any decision to be accepted.

Both still alive in the CL. It would make for an interesting final CL match-up, Bayern vs Chelsea .

that looks legitimate, I think in a few years MLS will adhere to the promotion system, I say this because the league is growing and it might be able to sustain it.

from what I understand pro/rel will never work in the states because it will drive investors away

no one wants to invest in a franchise that might end up in the second div...

I'm not familiar enough with the fan base growth of their teams both in NALS and MLS but I think it could work once there's enough of it to sustain financially stability, in the mean time their single entity business structure it's buying them time until then.

could you imagine NBA/MLB/NFL owners being keen on promotion/relegation?

I imagine the same sentiment would be felt by MLS franchise owners

I don't believe from what I understand that pro/rel is a part of the american sport culture

this is highlighted by the fact that MLS plans to expand to 28 teams

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...ans-expand-league-28-teams-scheduling-updates

that indicates no plans on relegation whatsoever

I agree. Not part of the professional sport culture, but in the amateur sport area might be possible or is already, to some degree.
