Since I live very close to the stadium, I kept track of the kick-off situation, and left my house in an Uber at 9:30, and arrived at SMGF at 9:40. I sat down in my seat just as the kick-off whistle blew. That was the most entertaining soccer we have played all season, which is not saying much, but it's positive. I noticed that we were pressing and scrambling all over the field to win the ball back and put pressure on LA. Picard is emerging as a very good midfielder, MOTM. The Gazdaddy goal was sweet. Did anyone notice his goal reaction, a finger in each ear, "I'm not listening to you"..... We almost blew it late, but we got 3 points. I am glad I made the effort to go to the match.
I might be wrong, but I don't recall thecrew.com ever having a message board. There was a Crew email based mailing list, matchnight, BS and maybe a few others. Thecrew.com originally was run by the team, but eventually the League required everyone to fold into the league run system. It was a poor move at first, but eventually worked out.
Taha bossed the first half and was clearly the best guy out there. You are deranged and have a bad brain if you disagree.
I ufortunately fell asleep shortly after the game started, and havent had a chance to watch the replay.
I sometimes wonder whatever happened to the CERW CAT jersey. Misprints can be worth a bit. There was another guy who outbid me for a Duncan Oughton jersey. He spent the money and got the jersey. I got the jersey and kept the money.
There was an original board. The below link is from early 1998. MatchNight didn't come into the picture until 2000 or 2001 as a result of Jesse wanting to take SoccerBoards (precursor to BigSoccer) global. 2000 is probably a bit early. It was definitely in existence in early 2002. https://web.archive.org/web/19981202043155/http://www.thecrew.com/ Originally, as in prior to 1999/2000 or so, it wasn't really run by the team (as in out of the front office), but by Crew/soccer fans with IT/website knowledge. They were just regular fans with regular lives who'd hang out at tailgates. IIRC, one of them (Shane) worked on the north side of Columbus. The kid of another guy (Larry, a true Crew fan legend) posted here for a while not that long ago.
Seen on the Archived website: "Around the League: Iran willing to play friendlies on American soil" The more it changes, the more it stays the same, almost 30 years later.
