BW FC Daily @BWFCDaily 4m4 minutes ago Report: $3.6 million Tim Ream transfer from Bolton Wanderers to Fulham to be confirmed... http://www.snsanalytics.com/EdlIy5 4:02 AM - 17 Aug 2015 · Details
Fulham sold Pat Roberts, Bryan Ruiz and got a loan fee for Mitroglu. Ruiz and Mitro transfer fees alone should come close to paying for the transfer for Ream. Further, with those two wages off the books, that was a HUGE boost to the player wage bill as opposed to QPR who are probably still in wage slashing mode. Although we don't know the precise extent yet, one of Fulham's LBs, Jack Grimmer, suffered an injury in last week's League Cup game that could probably see him with the physio for some time. Fulham is also trying to lure a CB from Brighton, so Ream provides cover if they're unsuccessful. LB was a complete disaster area for Fulham last year. CB wasn't a whole lot better.
Wow, this transfer fee just kept going up, it's by now more than double the initial report. I think that should be at least what Bolton paid out to MLS for him in the first place right?
They were: Ruiz at PSV for half a season (now sold to Sporting Lisbon), Mitroglou was on loan at Olympiakos last year and is at Benfica this year. But both of those loans certainly come with some type of fee.
Not quite right on Ruiz. His stint at PSV was the year before when Fulham was still in the EPL. He made 23, per WhoScored, mostly unremarkable appearances last season in the Championship...all for Fulham.
QPR is just a sh*tshow of a club, but they definitely have better odds of coming back up sooner than Fulham. I love the history of Yanks at FFC, but color me disappointed.
Whoops. Forgot they were only in the Championship last season. Feels like they've been out of the Prem for ages already.
Glad he got his move to Sporting Lisbon. Dude is too good and (physically) not made for the Championship. O/T but why didnt he excel for Fulham when they were in the PL? Was it too big of a move for him?
I'm surprised no PL club went for Ream for squad depth if nothing else. Like 1 of the promoted clubs for example.
You'd already answered the question. From what I saw, he was/is very accomplished technically, with a wonderfully cerebral approach to the game, who was too often hustled & muscled out of things by lesser players and whose game was in any case unsuited to the 100-for-90 (100 mph for 90 minutes) EPL game. The only difference between the Championship and the Prem is that the latter league's 90 minutes do include numerous moments of world-class skill and vision; the Championship has many less such moments. The players who deliver these moments are fewer and they're on team whose squads include lots more clogging journeymen.
Exactly. At least it isn't a casino or one of those payday loan shark places that prey on football fans.
