Clip is on ESPN. He had his hands on Jesus. Jesus went down. Certainly a fair call.

It was going to be a goal anyway. Although Captain Hindsight would say Ream should have just let Jesus score.

But he pulled him down hard and the PK and red were deserved.

As a defender what are you taught to do in that situation. He was wrong side of the attacker who had a glorious chance to score. You pull him down it's a no brainer penal and red card. In fact if you barely touch him, knowing attackers now he'll go down and you'll still get sent off and a penal given against you. You do nothing he scores. What is the text book answer to that question as a defender? I'm asking an honest question.

Brilliant bit of passing by Citeh and Silva there. I only hope Silva is moving to MLS next season.

Make an attempt for the ball or let him go. If the defender makes a "legitimate" attempt for the ball and still commits a foul, it's only a yellow card. Or just hope for the best from your goalkeeper and don't put your team down a man for 84 minutes.

The calculation changes the later into the game you get.

That is the logical, recommended solution.

Sadly, since humans are just primates, we're guided by instinct, and the instinct of a defender is to do what Ream did.

Ream suspended today v Huddersfield Town. Is that because of the Red Card in the FA Cup game v Man City?

Great question! You would think that league games would be on a separate track.

Suspensions are handed down by the Football Association, and they handle the league and cups, so suspensions are across all competitions in England.

The sad thing is that if they get promoted, Tim's likely to look useless again.

But he’ll be a major leaguer again so things will be looking up even if he’s benched!

what explains that though? He's like among the best defenders in the Championship for years but he is out of his element in the PL, what gives?

Also, Fulham is under assault when they're in the Premier League, but they tend to be in control of matches in the Championship. With more sustained pressure on the defense, Ream is more likely to make mistakes, especially because of the way he plays.

Millwall 1-1 Fulham, Ream went the distance - Fulham now tied for second, with Leeds, who have fallen back to the pack.

Yes, they played largely a possession based game that they controlled int eh Championship. When they tried to adopt that same tactic and brought in a boatload of new players who didn't mold into a team. There big signings really didn't pan out. Seri had one goal; Alfie Mawson had two years of Premier league experience but really did no better than Ream (before he got injured). Mitrovic performed okay but has really lit it up at the Championship level. If they win promotion, it will be interesting to see if they try a new tactic.
