I am no big fan of EJ's, but I am pretty excited for him and Fulham to see what happens. The guy has speed and if nothing else he can hold ball until the 7 midfield players arrive.

thank goodness this is dire as it is, but hopefully they can pull something now. Missed the 6 pointer at Bolton. They need these two guys badly.

They'll have to drop one of those 7 if they plan on playing an actual striker..

I was very impressed with their new CB though.. Andreasen looks a little rough around the edges on first glimpse.

Proof that Roy Hodgson has a sound tactical mind.

I hope Dempsey sits just behind McBride and EJ in an attack that saves Fulham from the drop.

But it'll probably be Healy and Kuqi and Fulham will be dropped as a result of Hodgson.

when Bouzza was brought in Dempsey was pushed into a central midfield role. IMO Murphy has been extremely disappointing and with these comments I'm a little more confident that a Bullard and Dempsey CM pairing is looming. It's pretty clear that Fulham is lacking pace, I very much doubt EJ is being brought in for anything but the starting role. He should see the field, perhaps on Sunday.

Has EJ worked out with Fulham yet? I'll be interested to see the comments after his first sessions.

You can see on tv he's fast, but in person it's breathtaking

Excellent! It really sounds like the coach wants Eddie to start right away, any odds on how much time he could actually see on Sunday? My guess is he comes in after 65min if the team is down. This could be fun again!

Also great to see in that article that Fulham appreciates that Bradley was willing to let EJ miss the Mexico friendly so he could get some consistent time with Fulham. With so many Americans playing there (although only 3 are likely national teamers), its great to see a positive relationship between Bradley and Hodgson

That central midfield pairing seems to lack any defensive bite, unless you have Leon Andreason playing behind the two in a 4-1-4-1.

I think it's more likely that Dempsey either moves to LM with Simon Davies on the right, or that Dempsey remains as a forward, partnered with either Nevland, EJ or McBride.

why does everyone forget Dempsey started out in MLS as a defensive mid and held his own pretty damn well while scoring goals? He's proven time and again he can do what's asked of him.

that being said, I'd love to see fulham play a triangle up top with dempsey as an a-mid... but damn... they just suck

Nah, dempsey would make a terrible dmid in the prems. I think the new kid has the look. He is mean, athletic and not particularly clever around goal. Also, Volz looked great as a destroyer out there. Bring the energy and intensity needed.

(Insert four fulham defenders not named Baird here)

If Volz isn't an RB, it'll be Baird since Hodgson doesn't seem to think Omozusi is ready...

    Baird - Hangelund - Christanval - Konchesky

Seems to be what I think he'd play once the squad reaches full fitness...
