http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/displaynews.asp?id=5178 Great article, very encouraging for Fulham Fans. We hope to bring in 4 new players...COYW.
COYW? This one isn't coming to me right away. Yeah, I kind of posted the same article. Good to hear that they're being aggressive and won't just sit on their laurels. Hopefully they'll really pull off an upset and sign some tremendous talent.
If you have any other Fulham related questions feel free to pass them my way, I'll be glad to help educated!
OK, Mike... I have a few questions for you. 1. What are some of the traditions at Fulham? This could include superstitions or just little things the fans or players do for certain games or all games.. you get the idea 2. Who is the arch-nemisis or the biggest rival or most hated enemy of Fulham 3. How would you describe the atmosphere at a Fulham home match? Would this be different now that they are headed back to the refurbished Cottage? That's a start... I guess I've gained a lot of interest in the side since McBride transferred there from my Columbus Crew. I never really followed EPL with more than a passing interest and never had a favorite side. I was thinking maybe it was time to change that.
I know I'm not American Mike, but I have a reply . Fulham traditions... Unfortunatly, up until the Al Fayed era, the biggest tradition was losing. That has changed though. And, the fans who have been there to see it all are alot like Red Sox fans in Boston. Losing, but daring to hope. At least, most of them... there are always doom and gloomers wherever you go. Fulham have always been a great family club. Smaller and more intimate. When going to the Cottage it feels more like a reunion than anything. Another tradition is summed up by one word... "Fulhamish" Fulham have this knack for irony. Like setting a club record trasfer fee on Marlet, and now ending up loaning him out for a year. Very Fulhamish. The biggest rival by far is Chelsea. Or, more affectionatly known as Chelscum. Stamford bridge is actually in Fulham, and within walking distance of Craven Cottage. And, I for one, passionatly dislike anything remotely linked with them. I've been to both Craven Cottage and Loftus Road, and there is no comparision. The Cottage is home, and you can expect a great atmosphere there. Many of the most passionate fans stayed away from Loftus Road in protest of moving away from the Cottage, so this year should witness a great fan revival. We're going home!
The first thing I thought of when I read your post Kaiser was the word Fulhamish. I remember the first time a local explained that too me...I gave him the head tilt of confusion but as your stick with the team and follow what goes on day in and day out that word really take meaning. Traditions: Game Chants - The number one game chant is COME ON FULHAM! Over and Over again. Easy to sing! Stick that Blue Flag up your @rse! (Usually only sang when we play Chelsea) We Are Fulham, Super Fulham, We Fulham, FFC, We Are Fulham, Super Fulham, We Are Fulham, F!ck Chelsea. One of my favorites is "You'll Never Play for Fulham!" Usually reserved for a player of the opposing team who is popular/skilled who is having a bad day. (last chanted to Henry when we played Arsenal back in May 2004). Rivals: Older Rivals who we don't play anymore but fans still hate are QPR and Brentford. I have never been to the Cottage but I am heading there this Fall althought I have been to Loftus road twice. I've heard there is nothing like the Cottage. I am a former Manure fan but that is when I was young and stupid. I became a fulham fan due to a few blokes I met in my first trip to London back in January 2002. They were Fulham Fans and did everything they could to make sure I made a game and had plenty of beer. What else perks your interest?
I definitely want to go to a game at the Cottage sometime in the next year or two. Is it hard to get tickets or can you walk up and buy one at the gate? I am sure that depends on who they play, but what about a Fulham-Bolton game for example?
At LR last year and hte year before you could walk up and purchase tickets the day of the game. I'm not sure that's going to be the case, you can get them in advance or you can also probably scalp them outside near the pubs
Cough....this LIFE LONG FULHAM FC FAN...does not hate Brentford Fc http://groups.msn.com/brentfordfc/pictures
