I particularly like the scheduling of the programs. For example: Friday 7:00 PM Sky Sports News 7:30 PM MLS Preview 2003 Saturday 6:30 AM Man U v Liverpool (live) 8:30 AM Hannover 96 v Bayern Munich (live) 10:30 AM MLS Preview 2003 Sunday 11:30 AM 1860 Munich v Borrussia M'Gladbach (live) 1:30 PM MLS Preview 2003 2:00 PM Charlton Athletic v Leeds United
Only 30 minutes!! What kind of preview can you do in 30 minutes?? Soccer gets no respect in the US media!!!
The sad thing is, you really, really had to make sure you added Mr., otherwise you would have 10 people agreeing with you (in varying degrees of non-lucidity).
The Preview show will also be shown immediately prior to DC v KC next saturday. http://www.foxsportsla.com/world/pdf/fsw15.pdf MLS Wrap is scheduled for the following week already. Midnight ET Saturday is the first showing (after the day's matches are completed/just finishing up, kinda like Baseball Tonight) with rebroadcasts just before the live Bundesliga Sunday match, at 10:30 AM and 1:00 AM ET Sunday Night/Monday.
I think it's also worth mentioning that, as far as I can see on the FSW schedule, all MLS broadcasts are fit for 2 and a half hour timeslots. This means substantial pre/post match reports, i imagine, and I thing this is also an indicator FSW will not simply be re-transmitting regional FSN telecasts, whose telecasts are just 2 hrs. long. About the only relatively bad thing I can see (and again, it's relative...there's nothing at all actually bad about this) is that the games don't appear to be rebroadcast during the week like so many EPL, la Liga, and Bundesliga games. That's an easy thing to change though, if the demand is there.
I will now retreat into my mystical candy land where gumdrops grow on trees, my homebrew equipment cleans and sanitizes itself, Steve Ralston goes through the season unmarked in every game and .... someone devotes their time and sever space to post their Tivo-ed editions of MLS Wrap each week, so the poor bastards without FSW can see the show. mmmm, it's warm here
One more thing... Once the A-League broadcasts start up, it looks liek you could have a heck of a Saturday afternoon if you don't have a home match or are in an MLS market. FSW looks to be showing the A-League game Friday replay at 2:00 PM ET. So that means a typical Saturday would look something like this: 2:00 PM ET: A-League Replayed Match on FSW 4:00 PM ET: MLS Live Match on ESPN2 6:00 PM ET: Sky Sports News on FSW 7:00 PM ET: Futbol Mundial on FSW 7:30 PM ET: MLS Live Match on FSW 12:00 AM ET: MLS Wrap on FSW Plus, you know, all the games on the MLS Shootout, and those pesky English and German games too
sure, everyone is excited about this NOW, but after it shows, 1/2 dozen threads will appear screaming for different announcers, pointing out how many errors or omissions were made, how rinky-dink it was, etc. so enjoy it while it lasts.
I was considering this actually. It's probably a nasty copyright violation, but it's hardly stopped anyone else. However, I'd have to get comcast out here to set up cable first, and the next four weekends are pretty well spoken for between CPA review and roadtrips to DC and KC. I'll be damned if I'm going to take a day and a half off work just to wait for a comcast guy either.
Plus, if the game is temporarily suspended for weather, they'll have an extra half-hour on FSW. I also heard that they'll do cut-ins of other games during that time. And for sure, they'll re-broadcast games. This is FSW we're talking about.
well, if they are, they aren't planning on it yet. They've got rebroadcasts of other matches not to be played for weeks already scheduled. I'm not seeing any MLS rebroadcasts yet. Not to say that there won't be....but as of now, none planned.
Given that this is a recent addition to their programming, I would wait until they post the schedule for week 16 before commenting on rebroadcasts, or lack thereof.
