On the broadcast they said Dantas likely to miss a few more games. No appearance from Riley tonight either but she was listed as available. Meant we saw Ashe getting time at forward in an interesting twist.

it seems like the opposing goalkeeper usually has her game of the year against FSU. That game should have ended 3-0 or 4-0 but at the same time it also feels like FSU can't perform at the highest level if players are missing.

But regardless, the season is now. ND at home in the first round, then it would be Wake and then possibly Duke followed up by the NCAA tournament.

ND is 11th as of yesterday in RPI, Wake 7th and Duke 1st (or North Carolina 3rd). This is quiet the gauntlet with not much rest but at the same time if FSU wins the ACC tournament, they are a number 1 seed.

They also said the pitch was "slimmer" or "narrower" than usual. Is that a thing?

The width parameters are between 70 and 75 yards and the length between 115 and 120 yards.

    That is correct.

The reason that everyone keeps mentioning Miami's field being narrow is that the width there is only about 68 yards.

That was a gutsy win over an up and coming ND side. Apparently they are young, but they look dangerous IMO.
Referee was one sided in her calls a few times. it was criminal that she let the goal ND scored not be reviewed because our keeper was clearly fouled coming out to get the ball. She could have reviewed that!
Just call it even on both sides.

FSU is very beatable. Very disjointed at times. At other times we look sublime. Jekyll and Hyde.

Your keeper was not fouled. It was a 50-50 ball, she came out and dropped it. Both players had a right to the ball. Your keeper was moving forward into the Notre Dame player. FWIW I have no dog in the fight. I did not care which team won.

May not have been a foul technically, wasn't egregious, yet a foul is almost always called when there is that kind of contact with the keeper. They are over protected.

Nine times out of 10 that is called. By the way, I have watched it over and over and both are moving. The player is moving back to get to the ball, and the keeper is moving forward.

Go Noles! Let's win another ACCCG on Sunday!
Van Zanten was a total stud. Gilchrist was a rock.
Todd played her best game as a Nole IMO.
    Dudley is Dudley!
Boeckmann has gotten better as the season has gone along.

A few rare misfires from Dudley inside the 18. Addie Todd, wow. That save late in the second half… amazing reaction there. Boeckmann doesn’t offer a lot moving play forward but don’t really need her to with what everyone around her can do. She’s really grown into the role disrupting and resetting play. Not the favorite they were last year, but one of the teams that will have a shot at the title for sure.

ACC Championship against UNC with massive implications, doesn't get any better than that.

Go noles! I hope Iwai is ok. Didn’t look great. Depth is getting tested again if her and Dantas are missing time in the tournament.

Great win, first time coming from behind to win this year I think. Will help if/when we find ourselves trailing in NCAAT.

Yeah, rough for Iwai, I wouldn't expect her back. Will have to re-figure our wingback rotation, maybe it's just using three players in those two spots as opposed to four.

Tough first half, I thought UNC was well worth their 2-1 lead but at the same time the penalty was really soft (slight contact of the knees?), ref got duped by Dahlien IMO.

All 3 goals scored or created (Puerta, PK) by freshman subs.

I think I would be more optimistic about Dantas coming back but I hope for the best because it's always unfortunate when seniors get injured and it ends their collegiate careers potentially.

Wow, what happened to her? As a Nadeshiko Japan's fan I am legitimately worried.

Agreed on the PK. Incredibly light for that call. FSU would have had a second PK if she was calling it evenly had Hudson not finished off her chance with Dudley going down with way more contact than Simmonds put on Dahlien. Dudley doesn’t tend to get those calls tho, but all moot. Besides that, thought the ref called a pretty even game.

She landed awkwardly and went down immediately with knee pain :/ hopefully just a sprain but yeah unlikely we’ll see her this postseason I’d say. Too bad as she has performed well in the wingback role.

I was at church, so I haven't watched it YET! (I'm about to remedy that:))
The 4 teams in the semis of this tourney are all College Cup worthy teams IMO.
Now I doubt we end up with 4 ACC teams in the CC, but it wouldn't be a shock!

FSU played a great game despite a near perfect performance by UNC to counter their strenghs. Tar Heels really limited the transition chances off of bad turnovers but FSU still ruthlessly exploited the few chances they did create. As I've said in other threads, FSU is so scary this year because they can play poorly and you can play nearly perfectly but it takes so little for the 'Noles to explode.

That being said, this is a terrible take on the PK. The defender lunged out and, yes, made soft contact on Dahlien ... but A) she didn't get the ball, and B) her momentum bowled Dahlien over. You focused on the lower body contact so much that you didn't notice the fact that she ran Dahlien over with her upper body? Dahlien has drawn a lot of iffy penalties this year, but this is not one of them.

I do also think it was a foul against Dudley right before the winning goal, but advantage would have negated it if Hudson had somehow not scored.

FSU going from losing back to back games to winning the ACC Championship been a fun ride to follow so far, will be interesting to see what the NCAA tournament brings.

Enjoyable also because the team improved in the last few weeks and the freshman class is really good with Hudson, Puerta, Dantas, McGovern, Suarez and Washington.

Not close to being perfect but that also isn't expected or normal.

I can't remember when the NCAAT was ever so unpredictable. FSU, Duke or UNC would be my pick to win it but there are so many other teams who have a shot at it this year.

I have finally watched the game and it was a whale of a game, with 2 big time teams going at it.
I certainly disagree with Babs on the 1st PK. The thing about that that upsets me is that the official didn't even go take a look on VAR.
If she had taken a look and concluded foul, I would disagree, but be satisfied that she took that second look.
I'm going with CPT's earlier prediction of FSU, Duke, Miss St and UNC at 1 seeds. I could see either Duke or FSU as the overall #1. JMHO.
I hope not to play UNC again. They are scary good with excellent pace especially, Dahlien, Thomas and Armstrong.
This NCAA tourney is wide open IMO.

I don't understand how you guys can watch the replay of a player lunging into a challenge, not getting the ball, making contact with their lunge, and then bodying into the player with their momentum while they were off balance, sending them to the ground ...

... and not think it was a PK.

are we really talking about the same play? Do you guys not see all of the contact and how it was made against a player who was cutting and off balance? She catches here with the lunge with the leg, and there's an arm extension with the arm after they collide.

    Here is the video.

Because I have watched it multiple times and there was very little contact. Dahlien was already leaning backwards.
Mainly, I've seen much more contact in the box uncalled. That call is simply not called very often.
Please carry on. Neither of us is changing the other's mind.
Like I said earlier, if the ref had simply taken a look on the VAR, I would have been satisfied even if it went against us.
The WF game had a PK call against WF that was reversed on VAR. I was OK with that because it was the right call on review!.
