Frosinone uses the (very common for Serie B) 4-3-3 with Ciano as the central guy, Dionisi on the left and Nova on the right. So he's a wide forward more than a winger.

That was his best assist this season.

They lost 1-0 and Nova got replaced around 84'. With one game left Frosinone are barely hanging on to the last playoff spot:

    8 FRO 53 +3
    9 SAL 52 +4

Next game both Frosinone and Salernitana play at home against strong teams (#7 Pisa & #3 Spezia respectively).

Empoli, Frosinone & Pisa ended with 54 points.

So, they had to go to the first tiebreaker: points among the three. While Pisa and Frosinone tied both their games (1-1 at Fro, 0-0 at Pisa), and both lost to Empoli in Empoli, Frosinone managed to destroy Empoli at home (4-0) while Pisa lost to them 2-3.

    68 ' Great shot around @AndrijaNovakov3 . Save Paleari! #CITFRO 2-2

Tied 2-2 in 5 minutes of added time. No idea what the format of this playoff match is.

    ETA: Extra time, it is.

Single game played on the field of the stronger team, paired thusly: #5 vs. #8, #6 vs #7, winner of first goes vs. #4 & winner of second vs. #3. Tie goes to home team, but ET is played if they end the 90' tied.

Which means they are going for other 30' now. #8 Frosinone is tying away #5 Citadella thanks to Salvi and Dionisi (their best player IMO) goals.

Does that mean if it's still tied after the next 30 minutes, they won't go to penalties and Citadella will advance?

He wasn't very involved. They were trying to use him in post-ups, but they get away with a lot in that league. Doesn't couple well w/ him being "angular".

He did have a great move off the dribble and a peach of a cross over the keeper for a side head sitter but the guy just blew it embarrassingly. Beat it against the turf away from the goal. Didn't make sense. Guess he over-ran it. Should have been talking about the game-winning assist. This was in the 80th minute or so, w/ the score 2-all.

Yes. Chievo-Empoli finished 1-1 after 120 minutes and there were no shots from the spot, the game was given to the home team (Chievo).

The short of it is that Frosinone has 21' to score one (without being scored on).

I vaguely recall watching the Serie B promotion playoffs back when Danny Szetela almost achieved promotion with Brescia, and I do not remember it being this complicated.

They changed the format in 2014. Only the preliminary round (involving teams #5 to #8) is like this, after that it's the usual home-away stuff (before the playoffs only involved teams #3 to #6).

It's reminiscent of the Scottish League. About that level, very rough and tumble, not very technical, but occasionally someone pulls a rabbit out of their hat.

Still level after the first half of OT. Novakovich was involved in the build-up of a late chance before the break. Still managing to be in thru both subs during it, FWIW.

Frosinone is like that, actually, when compared to other Serie B teams: a lot of rough & tumble, very little in the way of tactics. Citta has been the better team through the 90 yet here we are, likely looking at a tie. Frosinone is quite physical at the back, the most "Championship" team in the Serie B, direct, fast, and with limited imagination.

    GGGGGoooallll!!!!

After a long throw-in into the area, the ball was bounced out by a defender and Ciano caught it right, unstoppable shot to the upper right.

    Frosinone are through!!!

PS: The goal was at the 118' mark. Nova not involved.

That was a wondergoal, volley outside the box off the loose ball, at the virtual death.

Novakovich had some nice game killing action afterward, held the ball up better previously, and had a couple big moments that could have resulted in a goal but didn't. I didn't see the testing shot, but that cross absolutely should have wound up in an assist.

In the end he played OK, reminiscent of Ream yesterday, but the offensive version. I think that's in the vicinity of level player he is. He has more potential, but that's where he is now. Kind of a tweener between a 2nd and 1st division player in a major country.

Keep in mind this is a two-leg match. So the first one is at Frosinone. Although, once again, with no spectators, home and away become quite similar.

Out in the 52nd minute at 0-0. Really don't think it was performance. Noticed just before he was running with a hitch and immediately prior to that he made a nice turn and key pass in the box for what could have been an assist.

He was their best attacker with the ball at his feet. They didn't have much of a coherent attack or dynamism w/out him. And they used him as their target man, though his exploits in that area are more theoretical.

Frosinone mostly went route one because their vision, skill, ideas, and athleticism are pretty lacking as a team. Also, again the ref is allowing players to get away w/ a lot defensively.
