The following question was asked yesterday in a live CHAT with Mark Stein, one of their basketball writers (his response follows the question): Lawrence (Oakland): Hey Marc, forget B-ball for a minute, do you think Oaktown can take Tampa Bay in the Superbowl? ...and who is your personal money on? Marc Stein: Sorry, Lawrence. Only football recognized here these days is the Premier League. City sits 10th but only five points out of fifth. Fourteen games left to make a run at Europe.
Yes, city are currently in 10th, but I have faith. With any luck, and a little old-time City football, next year may just see them in their rightful place: the 1st Divsion. HAAAAAHAAAHAAAAHAAAA!!!!!!
What...he hates us because we're not in season currently and the Premiership is?? Can't reach that conclusion until he makes comments during the summer/fall of 2003. Then we'll better know whether he hates us...
By the way, here's the URL for the entire chat; warning to those not interested--it's almost all about hoops! Except for the concluding remark, of course: http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=3011
Well, this just proves that ESPN would stop hating us if we changed names from MLS to "American Premier League"
Remember when NFL Europe was known as the World League of American Football (or WhataLAF)? Maybe they should call MLS the American League of World Football. Thoughts?
Let's get a good league, full of lots of teams, before we woory about what it's called.......... to do otherwise will only make the world laugh at us.
[director] And cut! [/director] Never was on topic, so the fun's over. Threads for both of the tangents exist elsewhere.
