you guys deserved that 3 points we couldn't put anything on goal... and our two best chances were off the wood work and a saved pk you guys put a lot more shots on goal that was a great game from busch, fantastic buddle was tremendous as well, cunningham was awesome and almost got an assist on the first goal (defender knocked it away from him, so no assist) freak accident with razov, a foul, but nothing malicious pretty clean game, very well called nice to see the upper deck filled on the boob tube i heard the northend more than i usually do when we come to town, but i still heard section 8 more... "oh when the crew comes marching in" came in crystal clear early on in the first half... there was also something the whole crowd did, but it was rather hard to make out... kudos on the improved support with how crappy we have been playing and our massive amount of injuries, i really don't think we deserve to make the post season this year... i would still like to mind you, but if you have watched our play of late... it's been shite congratulations -jim
What you couldn't make out was the "Let's ... Go... Crew" chat. The east side does the "Lets"... the north and south side do the "Go"... and the west side then says "Crew". And yes, Section 8 was loud as always. Too bad some of your fans are nothing more than petty theives.
Thanks for the compliments. We'll try and get the longer term record more equal this Sunday In your temporary lair. I'm concerned that we need to get at least one point on the artificial surface in Crapperville. It's been well established that artificial surfaces increase the risk of sprains and tendon/ligament injuries. When you look at your IR list vs. the rest of the league, the case against artificial surfaces gets pretty easy to make. We don't need to lose some of our partially healed to a goofy surface injury. See you on the tube Sunday.
maybe i was just really drunk, or maybe it was because i was in the middle of the 137, but i couldnt hear the barnburners.
In 109 we could hear the Fire fans very well -- I was impressed, they kept up a steady run of chants and songs pretty much the entire game. Couldn't hear the 137 gang at all at our end, I think because the stadium was just more full than usual. The guys in 111-112 (? I'm guessing -- a couple sections down from us) got some stuff going, maybe it had actually started at the North End? Loved the "P*ss on the Fire" chant. The jersey flag looked great, first time I'd seen it. Good job, guys. The "Lets Go Crew" chant worked well, I thought, but maybe next season we can train up to something a little less generic. What this club really needs is an anthem, but I have no idea what it should be.
probably because you were in the middle of 137.. i guarantee you, people in the Chicago section couldn't hear us for the same reason.
Jersey Flag.. Yeah, everytime I do it, there's something special about it.. don't know what that something is though... if you'd ever like to help unveil it, just contact me and i'll add you to our list. We usually have been doing it several times each season, but this season things happened and it only got done twice. We tried an anthem to the tune of carmen ohio, but apparently it was too much, so it got canned.
Alright. Slag the crap out me. I just don't care. I can honestly see singing "You'll never walk alone" at the top of my voice with 20,000 Crew fans. It's not like Liverpool is the ONLY team that sings it. OK, take me apart. I can't help it.
But that's exactly what I'm thinking -- not necessarily that particular song, though it's the one that most readily comes to mind, but something everybody knows that could just bind the crowd together. I first heard about "You'll never walk alone" on an Elvis Costello website, by the way. He's a lifelong Liverpool fan.
I usually have one or more kids with me, so I generally stick to the more "family friendly" section our tix are in. But I've been thinking that next year I definitely need to arrange an adults-only trip and try the 137 experience. Looking forward to it.
Why wait? Come down for the OC final, or a playoff game. Even if you don't want to commit to a whole game, you're welcome to come over for 20 minutes, or a half, or however much you'd like.
Thanks, but even IF I can convince my wife to let me come to the OC final on our wedding anniversary, I certainly won't be able to leave my 8 year-old behind, and he knows we've got tix to the one guaranteed playoff game. I'll get there sooner or later, though.
I wrote that. "Oh Come lets sing Columbus praise, with songs to Westy, Bake, and Maiz. We who gather in this end, share loyalty that never bends. Tell them all [Chicago] sucks. Black and gold to win the cup. We will stand and sing for you To Victory --- COLUMBUS CREW." 137 was a blast this Saturday, and I think we were about overdue for the Crew to score in the Northend. I really enjoyed singing the Hey Jude adaptation to bring the boys home to the final whistle. We also have God Save the Crew which although short, is anthem-like.
I 1000% agree with the sentiment dueling voices good, dueling fists bad. I sit in 225 (go ahead and say it). The thing that impressed me about Saturday's game was that the rest of the stadium was so loud, generally and throughout the game, that I mostly couldn't make out what insults 137 and the Fire fans were trading. There was more atmosphere than I have ever seen for a regular season match, excepting only opening night in 1999. I think we should pack the place with Boy Scouts more often!
