Those are all in the sign ordinance, and are pre-approved. They are more concerned with billboards then anything else. Height, size and placement. As far as the exemptions being appealed....I highly doubt it. Those that are complaining aren't really in the majority, nor are they in any position of power to make such a change. Its the same group that complain about EVERYTHING in this city.
Thanks Gator.... My point exactly ! Get a petition going, raise a referendum, vote a repeal of the ordinance. W/o that for all those people that complain Hurry the fvck up & die or move ! People that whine but do not do anything to alleviate their concern drive me nuts!
Actually, some of the whiners are quite active participants at City Council meetings, they just don't have the power to make any changes. For the most part I am happy about this, since they are just nitpicking, complaining babies. However, they are more concerned with the average homeowner's perspective then the majority of council members.....so its good to have the balance of ideas available.
TRAFFIC NIGHTMARE!!!! Stupid, popular, low budget, high trend furniture retailers.....go back to Sweden, or wherever it is you come from....you're messing with my commute!
Haha, IKEA is brilliant though. The cheap part is debatable (I found breeze blocks & some old wood can make acceptable furniture) but she gets to shop for furniture that is reasonably trendy & he gets to put the bits together (without looking at the instructions). It's like lego is back in style again (wait that was scandanavian too, hmm...)
Neither do I anymore......but I still try to keep somewhat updated. Going to council meetings was such a beating. Hours of crap for a few minutes of actual interesting and relevant legislation.
Your commute is all of 3 miles or so. I just hope we have more traffic at ULHOWA than at IKEA on Saturdays.
At least you live in a city where they have council meetings, I live in Denton County Fresh Water District #(Whatever). The Directors are the developer, his brother and his attorney. Doesn't feel like "Power to the People"
Yeah, MUD's suck. I can't believe the state legislature allows that kind of thing. I know many city's have tried to lobby the state congress to regulate the MUD's a bit more, but they've resisted due to the big $$$ developers can throw at them.
Ikea kicks ass. I know, I've checked. Many times. I'm just glad that I won't have to schlep boxes up from their Houston store anymore.
I asked GE this at the Town Hall and he dodged it quite well. He basically had no idea at that point. Maybe something has developed since then, but I don't know.
Interesting. You'd think he'd be the guy who'd know something. They'll make a load of $$$ on concessions if they sell some upscale beers.
I'll submit that as one of the questions in the first session of "Ask Elliott" -- a bi-weekly feature of the new Inferno website (Something he's already agreed to). Or if you don't want to wait until then, you could probably shoot him an email ;-)
and everyone blames American commercialism for destroying the world... it's the Scandinavians we should look out for!
