Will be much harder, Cavani and Suarez are currently tearing Chile apart.

so here's a little criticism of serie A from today's hero, balotelli

    http://www.footytube.com/teams/italy/italy/match-reports/

i never understood people who talked about their own country and putting it down. I remember capello said that few years ago too. Its true SerieA has been in decline but how can u compare that to all these other leagues that throw so much money around?

Yeah, Uruguay is arguably the best team in South America at the moment, based on form at least.

I wonder if the Stadio Olympico will be full.

Here's how this is going to play out.

Uruguay are going to rip Italy a new one. It will not be an accident, either: Uruguay is Italy's nightmare team, the team that is poised most perfectly to exploit all our weaknesses. Think about it:

We struggle for width? Uruguay has quick, attacking full-backs who will exploit our weakness on the flanks.

Our central defenders aren't world-class? Well, Suarez and Cavani will expose them. They are world-class and in good form.

Pirlo and Montolivo can be pressured in midfield? Bet your life that they will be, and while Uruguay will let Italy have more possession, they'll hit us hard on the counter-attack when Pirlo and Montolivo do give up the ball.

Prandelli's Italy is a pretty damn good team, and we match up especially well against sides who try to keep possession and build play positively. But this is the team that has strength everywhere Italy has weakness, and they're going to demonstrate the playbook for how to beat us at Euro 2012.

It might be a good lesson, that said: it will show Prandelli the areas in the team most in need of improvement.

Italy's lineup looks impressive. I'm really looking forward to this game. So much history. Both nations are 2 of the most iconic football nations in history + pillars of world football history. I just love battles between classic teams.

Very frustrating that Uruguay will be without Suarez and Forlan, their 2 superstars, + a few key players :\

a little history between these 2

    Italy Population: 60 million
    - 4x FIFA World Cups (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006)
    - 8x Fifa World Cup semi finalists
    - 1x European Champions (1968)
    - 1x Olympic Champions (1938)

    Uruguay. Population: 3 million
    -2x FIFA World Cups (1930, 1950)
    *First winners and hosts
    - 5x FIFA World Cup semi finalists
    - 15x Copa Americas (...1968, 1983, 1987, 1995, 2011)
    - 2x Olympic champions (1924, 1928)
    - 1x FIFA World Cup Winners Cup (1980)

Was looking forward to seeing Suarez and Forlan for this game.

Uruguay is surely the power house team of South America. History repeats itself.:)

Unfortunately, Forlan and Suarez won't be playing :( Uruguay is trying out a few youth players. However, from what I've read, they are taking the match extremely seriously. Their captain, Lugano, stated it was a matter of prestige since it's a special event seeing two classic teams go at it. (was on goal.com)

Injured, but not seriously. They are saving him from what I read on Liverpool forums. Also Luis has a tough few weeks coming up (Chelsea, City, Chelsea again, Fulham) so think Liverpool prefers for him to be rested. He might play a bit tho.

If we beat Uruguay tomorrow, then we will have defeated the European and South American champions in the same year.

spain lost to england....since they won the world cup they lost to argentina 4-1, portugal 4-0, italy 2-1 and now england 1-0
lol i guess italy's performance post world cup wasnt that bad after all

i think if italy goes up 2-0 or something, they'll bring in suarez...i dont see why uruguay national team care so much about liverpool when they need to test their own team. These could all be rumors and suarez can start.

Yeah Italy beat a full strength Euro and World Champs. But beating Uruguay without Forlan, Suarez, Fu cile, Abel Hernandez, and Gargano is not the same ...at all.
