I've been reading about Italy playing Argentina (November 13), Australia (November 20) and Fiji, respectively in Firenze, Verona and Modena. Is this true?

I Hope the likes of Alberto Aquilani and Gaetano D`Agostino get call ups, we need some creativity in our midfield.

I'm wondering about this as well. It will be very interesting to see who Prandelli picks.

Italy can pick Seria A/B players as late as Friday or Saturday (Aug 6-7) for the Tuesday (Aug 10) Game.

However, he has to inform players who play outside Italy 14 days before the game per FIFA laws, otherwise the club/s don't have to release their player for the National Team game...

Yea, I'm not betting on Cesare gutting the current set-up. In fact, I expect most of it to stay the same initially with him, obviously, testing his own formations & tactics. Those expecting Cassano, Balotelli, & Rossi in his first game might be disappointed. In the long run, though, I think he's going to have at least 2 out of 3 on the starting lineup.

Why the need to make his picks now? So that the media can scrutinize who he called? Considering that most teams just got into summer training, it is too early to make any call of domestic based players. And those abroad are not many. It is not like the case of a Brasil or Argentina calling on European based players.

Federico Macheda scored 2 goals tonight for Man u and was the MVP of the MLS allstar game..... I hope this kid blows up and could become something special for the years to come! Does he even play in our Under21 teams? I never noticed him with Balo, Aquafresca and those teams...

Prandelli will be scruntinized either way he goes. The Italian press will scream that we have learned nothing from the WC 10 disaster if the same juckleheads are called up, and they will be highly critical of many new faces if he guts the national side. Having said that, I expect many of the WC Azzurri to be inlcuded with a sprinkling of young talent to play Aug 11. Gila will be the featured striker. Players like Quags will see more playing time and jokers like Ianquinta will not cross the touch line. That is most likely the best compromise at this time.

Reports coming out of the ManU camp have indicated that Macheda will be partnering Rooney upfront this year. And Ferguson has already stated that he is the best finisher on the team. In old antiquated Italy this doesnt mean anything. Expect the status quo to continue.
