Is this going to be the battle of the reserves or does Hughes actually care about winning this game? It might be a good opportunity to get Tevez in shape.

Personally, I don't really give a hoot about what we do in Barcelona, I think it's a waste of time. I understand the publicity angle, but as has been mentioned before, having a friendly after the season has started, and midweek at that, is a weird idea. Oh well, I'll be watching from work anyways.

I don't think it is a waste of time in the long term -- anything that raises the exposure level of the club and gets potential transfer targets to take us seriously is progress in my opinion. Besides, Wolves played last night, so they'll be just as tired / fresh as we'll be at the weekend.

I understand the publicity angle, but I still think we should field mostly reserves.

Hopefully whatever starters we have out get subbed out in the latter stages of the first half.

Most of this lineup makes sense. I would take out Richards, Ireland, Dunne, and Bellamy just because they all played last Saturday. I really don't want them to feel fatique on home opener, when we're expected to crush Wolverhampton. I'd also take out Petrov because he's injury prone. We know that he's on his way out, and if he gets hurt, his value will drop dramatically.

It's good to see Benjani getting a few touches. I would also continue to work on Tevez' fitness by giving him a half to play.

I agree. As much as I understand the publicity side as well, this has the potential of having a very negative effect on the club in publicity and injury so I hope we go with a very young squad, play very loose, and just focus on keeping it close. It would be a shame to have a player become injured and lose to Barca by a large amount. The old adage is there is no such thing as bad publicity, but with us that would be status quo, so even then this friendly wouldn't make much sense in that respect.

I predict we'll see McGivern, Vidal, and Weiss at some point and we'll lose 2-1. They are still readying for the season so I can imagine them giving fitness test to some of their best performers.

I just wish I could manage a trip down to see it, but I have too much work to do and that train ride is horrid. I'll be off in time to watch it in between projects, though, thankfully. Besides, I just bought a season pass now that Zara are back in the Primera (very, very excited).

    Everyone else's predictions?

Encouraging to see Ned in the lineup, looks like he's getting back to fitness.

Real glad that Weiss gets a run out. Petrov as well -- putting himself in the shop window perhaps?

Just what I was thinking, he'll want to play well to garner some interest.

We're not seeing much possession, but of course, it is Barca.

Has Dunne forgotten how to properly defend. Every time the ball comes to his feet he sends it directly back to a Barca player.

On a side note, Sir Felchy must be crying right now. narrowly beating B'ham and now losing to Burnley. Not a great sight.
