Friedel to have surgery, out 2-4 weeks. http://www.rovers.co.uk/today/view/breaking_news_detail/0,,10303~302088,00.html Will have surgery on his bad (left) knee after the Everton match on Sunday. Upcoming schedule for Blackburn: 11/24 @Charlton 11/30 Fulham ----------------- 12/4 Rotherham (Worthington Cup) 12/7 @ Bolton 12/14 @ Everton
If he's getting the surgery on Sunday anyway, when are you suggesting it should be moved to? Saturday? I don't think so...
One would certainly think so. But as far as the surgery goes, Brad originally picked up the injury in the pre-game warmups against Arsenal, IIRC, and even after he won man-of-the-match honors there, he said that he could have the surgery or not, and if he opted for it, he could have it done at any time. And this would seem to be a good time to do it, IMO. Judging from the immediate list of Blackburn fixtures that Buff posted, all five of those games look like winnable (sp?) games for Rovers, Friedel or no Friedel. And Brad comes back by Christmas, for the busy Holiday program-- first game back would be for Rovers' home fixture against Manchester United on 12/21. Rovers' fixtures are here (the next Worthington Cup match not included on this list, BTW): http://www.planetfootball.com/fixtures.asp?cpid=8&clid=5 So by having the surgery now, it's a win-win situation for both player and club involved. Cheers, William
Brad hopes he'll miss just one game. http://www.soccernet.com/england/2002/20021117/reports/69143_pre.html
Let's hope all goes well and his replacement, whoever he is, doesn't play out of his mind and create any sort of 'keeper controversey. And before everybody chimes in with "Friedel is God, he is worshipped, there is no way it will happen," think twice. It happens.
This may not be the most appropriate thread, but ... It was said on today's nats broadcast that Reyna will also be having his surgery on Monday in LA.
According to SkySports News, Friedel will miss a couple of games (Charlton and Fulham). So nothing major. He will be back for the Worthington Cup match against Rotherham.
Well not actually according to this which makes sense since Friedel's operation does not seem to be especially complicated if he is to return in two weeks. It sounds like a very small, straight forward scope.
