Daily Star reporting that Blackburn may not be able to refuse the amount of $ that the Arse could throw their way for the big American.

    hmmmmm.....

A couple of weeks ago Souness said that no amount of money would be enough for Friedel, and Arsenal is supposed to be on a tight transfer budget this summer.......but stranger things have happened I guess. I hope it doesn't happen. From what I've seen I think they'd be just as well to stick with Taylor, but I can understand if they want to get some big time experience in goal.

I'm all for it. That would be fantastic. Although, I'd be a little worried about Wenger vs. Arena. Arsene HATES to let players go for what he views as unnecessary competitions, which I'm sure in his mind would encompass everything related to TFC save WC qualifiers. And even with those, he's going to balk at letting him go in the first round when we're playing teams like Aruba and Montserrat. But it would be awesome to see an American in the starting lineup at Highbury.

Good thing is we don't need him for anything but qualifiers, and after howard's display last night, I think we'll be alright against Arbua.

who cares though.. B/w Keller and Howard our keeper situation is far from problematic. Especially for "meaningless" games...
Not having Friedel released for games is the least of our worries..

Good points. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky that we continue to churn out world class keepers for some reason.

Friedel would be a good fit for the gunners but I don't think it's going to happen.

Keller is starting regularly with Totenham. he may not be easy to get eotehr.

There is still Meola, Thronton, Howard, and Brown to pick from. So we seem pretty set to me.

Friedel has sucha good relationship with Souness. Maybe he wouldn't play as well under Wenger (?).

I guess they're trying to give their most famous fan with the initials OBL a heart attack to go with his kidney ailment.

I think this would be a good move for Brad and American soccer.

This is getting old. Arsenal has more English players than French. On Wednesday 5 Englishmen played for Arsenal while 2 Frenchmen played.

And this despite the fact that Vieira is injured and Arsenal had nothing to play for. Amazing!

And when they did have something to play for the previous Sunday they used _three_ French players. Ok Viera's injured, but otoh Wiltord's not been a regular starter. Strange kind of French team.

Ok, so Arsenal was also missing 3 other starting Englishmen in Seaman, Keown and Cole. Amazing!

    Howard to Man U.
    Friedel to Arsenal

O what a story line if both these rumors could come true!

Friedel to Arsenal was a big story on SkySports news tonight, and they showed a shot of a Brit newspaper back page reading "Arsene wants Friedel so Brad." Ok, that's not really funny but it's cool thinking that a US player is getting that much attention from EPL heavyweights.

Brad's at the top of the Friday rumor mill on my favorite football website:

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/rumourmill/

"Like the urban misery that is Coronation Street, Arsenal's search for David Seaman's successor has been running since the Dark Ages. Or at least that's how it feels. But lo! It seems Arsene may finally be approaching some kind of closure, for Brad Friedel has once again been targeted as the man to fill Seaman's boots.
Having decided that the American is "the classiest keeper in England"...

Goes on to say Arsenal will go after Turkish keeper Rustu Recber if they fail to get Brad.

Yeah, Friedel to Arsenal and Timmy to Man U would be pretty awesome. Two American 'keepers on the top two English teams.

I would be so pissed off if Friedel left Blackburn, I really don't want to see him leave unless he was going to the MLS, and that won't happen anytime soon.

Pat Jennings was my hero as a kid. Maybe Keller can play for Arsenal just like Jennings left Spurs to play for Arsenal, anyway it would be nice to see an American play for Arsenal.

I've been a bit of an Arsenal fan this past season, and I've thought Taylor has done an excellent job. If any team at the top of the Premier league needs to find a new keeper, it's Man U. Still, if Freidel could play with a back line that had Cole and Campbell, with Viera in front of them, he could earn a GAA under .5
