While reading www.soccernet.com I cam across this article here: www.soccernet.com/columns/2002/1205/20021205featjolly.html and the excerpt at the last paragraph seems to confirm what we all believe; currently well in form, Brad is the best GK in the premiership. Liverpool had 24 shots, but in a Friedel-esque performance, Macho repelled the title challengers.
I think they meant Friedel-esque in terms of a relatively unfancied team getting a result against a big name opponent largerly on the strength of their goalkeeper standing on his head. I would like to say that Friedel is the best Gk in EPL, but I don't see enough games to make that arguement without it being largely based on my pro-US bias. I would put him no worse than top 3 in all objectivity, and you could certainly argue that he has been on the best form of any EPL keeper this year, however I think the comparison was just a comparison, not a mention of Freidel as the best in the league.
Also remember that soccernet has its US connections with ESPN. Not saying its bad at all, but just keep that in mind.
fair enough, however, if we start seeing friedel-esque plastered on other non US affiliated sites, then I think a clear argument can be made that Brad is the best keeper at the moment as his form is phenomenal, even at the loss to Everton, he still managed to keep his side in it making some world class stops.
Well no matter what they meant, he is still the best goalie in the premiership... watch him play and you know that...
Soccernet is british based and besides i have seen even more brad worship on football unlimited, which is run by the guardian
