1-1. Dunn from the spot. Duberry handled in the area.

Right after, big save by Friedel on Kewell.

A third for Blackburn---Andy Todd, the little-used defender.

what a sad and lonely thread. I can hear the echo of my keys typing. Only a few short weeks ago this place would be awash in saga-length odes to Brad, guys carving his initials into their grandma's foreheads with steakknives...

Oh well, guess phony Friedel-mania has bitten the dust... The only question now is if London is still calling.

I would like to point out, if Blackburn can catch the Toffees, they will be ahead of them on goal differential. A top 6 finish will be nice for the relatively inconsistent Rovers. A few key players may improve them in '04.

Not really a fair result at all....

The penalty called against Duberry happened because he was shoved in the back while in the air..... Cole's goal was after Bakke decided it would be fun to pass the ball to Yorke, and Todd's was just patetic defending on a corner. The only chances Blackburn had in the match. Brad made at least 3 good saves.... 2 from Kewell and a leg save from viduka.

The ref was a joke... for some reason blackburn players are allowed to use their hands to play, and they are allowed to foul our players in the box.

    Oh well.....
I'll try to post a pic or two in a while....

These results leave Everton in 6th and Blackburn in 7th.
    6 Everton +2 59
    7 Blackburn Rovers +5 56

    Blackburn have:

    03-May-03 H West Bromwich Albion
    11-May-03 A Tottenham Hotspur

    Everton have:

    03-May-03 A Fulham
    11-May-03 H Manchester United

I can easily see Blackburn coming away with 6 points and Everton with three putting Blackburn into the last UEFA Cup spot based on goal difference.

gotta agree. Almost have to assume that Everton will lose to ManU in a game that may help decide the championship.

Maybe in Oklahoma you do. Here in the Portland area this year we have the, "My God will it ever stop raining!?" The answer from God (who was channeling Brad Friedel) was, "Not bloody likely!"

I've been thinking that the new transfer rules have hurt this board as well. There are only a couple months a year now when there is any "real" transfer speculation. I used to love coming to this board and reading all the wild rumors each week.

    It's more like Act X.

Just curious, how many spots go to Europe in the EPL?

FWIW, Friedel was just named to the PFA Team of the Year.
Friedel-Mania isn't dead...it'll be back next year...and the year after that.
Some of us DO have lives you know.

    Midwest, the real one.
Wouldn't this be pushed down to 7, 8 if the FA Cup and Worthington Cup winners are in the top six?

That I haven't seen full-on proof on yet.

    http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/

Liverpool could win a CL spot with a finish in third or fourth place, but I believe Blackburn needs to finish sixth in order to get a spot in the UEFA Cup next season.

Being in UEFA cup wouldn't necessarily be good for a team with size of Blackburn. It can hurt a team's domestic form. Souness said he believes Fulham's poor domestic form was the result of international competition. Besides, the extra prize money for UEFA cup has shrunk recently. Champion's league has promoted itself well, but UEFA cup hasn't.

Well, actually just one since it is the same song but quite clever nonetheless. Plus it prompted Mr. Seagrove to come up with another hilarious Freidel missive so lets give some credit to the originator.
