from The Sun Genc'birligi 3 Blackburn 1 Graeme Souness blasted Blackburn’s sloppy defending in this UEFA Cup defeat in Turkey. They have a terrible record in Europe when you consider that they had an awful campaign in the Champions League (by the standards of the English champions) after they won the league in 1995. I think they also went out on away goals (two draws) against a Swedish team (Trelleborgs) the previous year. I think Rangers got the best use out of Amoruso. A thing to bear in mind about him, however, is that in his early days there, he made a lot of mistakes that were punished, even in Scotland, a classic example being a goof that allowed Hearts to score the decisive goal in the 1998 Scottish Cup final. After about six months he settled down and became a very good player for Rangers (eventually captain). So maybe something similar will happen in Blackburn. But time is not on his side as he is over 30.
But that campaign was particularly memorable for the on-field brawl between teamates LeSaux and Batty in a game in Russia.
How old is that guy now? He played in the '94 WC. Anyway, he's like the Jovan of the INT. Scored a cracker of a goal against Norway, and was never heard from again.
Er, what cracker of a goal did Jovan score in the World Cup for us? You may owe Dino an apology for that statement.
