Friedel was named the top keeper by his fellow players. I predicted this long ago, but was accused of having no knowledge of the game. :)

    What do I know?

I also picked Henry as player of the year. Not that it was some big revelation that he would win. He was the favorite.

Like I was saying, what do I know. :) I have no knowledge of the game. It seems that 5 of Premiership team of the year were my picks. Friedel, Gallas, Pires, Vierra, Henry,.

    What do I know?? :)

Fuck all. We've been through this.

Your craving for approbation is pitiful.

dude c'mon...predicting Henry to win a end of the year award hardly makes you Nostradamus or some brilliant tactician of the game.

Tell the people why you were told you had no knowledge, Wildman. Don't continue to lie by intimating it had anything to do with your picks for POTY (which would have failed to arouse enough interest or attention to garner comments of any kind, negative or otherwise).

I'll be the first to stand up and say the big yank had a great season and it would be an injustice to say he didn't deserve it.

I don't know for a fact, but, i would assume it came down to the choice of either Cudicini and Friedel.

Friedel had a great World Cup also, i wonder if that tiped the scales in his favour.

There's no doubt Friedel has had a great season, and he actually does deserve the award since it was between him and Cudicini IMO.

But If It was my choice, I would have picked Cudicini.

It's hard to argue the players picks, afterall they are on the pitch day in day out. There are probably 2-3 very equal choices for almost every position. You could easily make a case for Ruud and Owen up front.

I would pick Friedal, I think Blackburn were more dependent on Friedal then chelsea where on cuddiccinni. Or maybe its just because I am a yank.

i would agree that blackburn were more dependant on him but seeing him week in week out i feel that he was the best and is the best keeper italy have but he wont get picked because he plays abroad.

It doesn't surprise me many don't believe Friedel is the top keeper. In the vote in skysports, Friedel got 27% of the vote and is ranked highest. The next I believe is Cudicini he got 24%.

    It's a close race.

Friedel got 27% means just about 3 out of 4 voters don't believe Friedel is the top keeper. That's pretty consistant from what I hear.

Personally I think Friedel is better than Cudicini athletically by a mile. It's hard to believe shooters would rather face Friedel.

    Rubbish.
There are differences between them, Friedel being better in the air, Cudicini being a better shot stoper.
However there are no differences between them where one is better than the other "by a mile"

You state many things mate...some of them are even true ;)

    Read the post again.
The big fella is a wonderful keeper.
Cudicini is a better shot stoper.
    Friedel commands his area better.

There's fuck all between them really.

Really? How about you FACTor in the simple truth that when Friedel was Cudicini's age, he couldn't catch a cold.

Friedel has displayed marginally more consistent form than Cudicini this season. Cudicini has more inate talent than Friedel and will spend more years at the top of this game than Friedel has even the remotest hope of doing.

Sorry. It's not your fault. It's that lack of knowledge, and the attendant lack of perspective and understanding again. Sucks to be you, as Loney would have it.

Yeah, but I'm not talking solely about his time at Liverpool. If it was just that, then you could make allowances. Any keeper playing behind Babb, Harkness, Kvarme and Bjorneby was likely to get a bout of the idiots.

He was pap at Galatasaray too.

Well, the award comes down to this year, and this year only. And the award is voted on by the players, whom I feel are a bit more qualified than either myself or anyone else who has posted in this thread. So, based on that, I've got to go with the players vote. Does anyone have any figures on what percentage of the vote Friedal got, and what percentage Cudicini got?

No one is disputing that Friedel had the best season of all the main goalkeepers this season by whatever minimal margin these things can be judged upon.

    Clan, I don't disagree!!

Matt's still sore because a guy with no 'knowledge' picked a Yankee as keeper of the year many months ago. :) Just joking around. Don't be so serious. Sometimes I forget those smiley things to indicate JOKING.
