San Jose Earthquakes could operate city’s recreational soccer fields San Jose Business Journal Though the full version of the article can currently only be read by those with a subscription, it'll likely become open to be read by everyone at some point in the (hopefully) near future.
12 years ago San Jose voters passed a bond measure to build more rec soccer fields. There's an approved plan to use that money to put in four fields adjacent to the current practice field, which itself is adjacent to the soon to be built but it hasn't been announced when Earthquakes soccer stadium. The Quakes will "operate" the fields which are required by law to give access to San Jose residents. The latest hitch is the city planners didn't calculate the right amount of land so there's an additional $100k the city needs to kick in to make it work.
