A French court is allowing a Pole EU status, based on Poland's "association accord" with the EU, and Poland's pending application. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=255490&cc=5901 1. Am I the only person astonished that Blatter is defending European players here? 2. If this ruling spreads, then there are 10 new nations that get EU status. How will that effect Yanks? I would think it would help. 3. If the US has an association accord with the EU, and this ruling stands for the whole of the EU, you can forget about work permits. Thoughts?
Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia have accords according to this site: http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/011206/2001120626.html This map shows member countries (in yellow), and applicant countries (in purple). I'm not sure if the 13 applicant countries are also the countries with accords... http://europa.eu.int/abc/maps/index_en.htm I don't think the United States has EU accords though.
