WPS representative Rob Penner is saying this is incorrect.

MedImmune, which is a WPS league sponsor, is just a couple of miles from where the Freedom play. Wonder if it would be more meaningful to help the league by investing in the Freedom or (at a minimum) arranging a kit sponsorship (as the Freedom were the only team without one).

MedImmune was a league wide sponsor so that was an investment by the company into WPS. An investment for which I was grateful.

If you're talking further investment, I would think that getting additional ownership investment (like yesterday) would be the focus for the BOG (or whatever they're calling themselves). The league needs teams.

    As Beau Dure says:

Just noticed that the Freedom have taken down all of their W-League and youth team pages. Will there be any teams at all under the "Washington Freedom" name next year?
