Courage win this one convicingly 3-0. First time Mia's lost in NC and first Courage shut-out of the year. Philly ties NY so for time being the Courage are out of the cellar. Another W over Atlanta this weekend would really help close the gap.

That was fun! At least part of the 3-2 prediction came true -- the good part! After Mia came out of the game, some goon climbed over the fence and approached her. He was grabbed by the ushers, fortunately, before anything could happen. Unni looked just great. We seemed much, much more in control of the game than in our last game. Fun.
big win for the courage! seems like they've really turned things around... although i must ask this: this is the 3rd game in a row that breanna boyd has been subbed out at half for danielle slaton. while i'm not one to say much, since i haven't seen any of these games...but i do wonder. i mean, i'm sure it's more about getting slaton on the field or what not, but bre's a type of player that plays full 90s, and i don't ever remember her getting subbed out in games for team canada etc. i'm not saying that situation should apply with the courage, but i wonder if bre is a happy trooper about this. the team's winning though, so that's a plus...but long term? is bre going to be only playing 45 mins every game now? just some thoughts. elaine
Good looking team We are looking so good, I kid you not. We looked like last year tonight. Dominant. Look out WUSA, that's what I say! As for what Gousa said above, I like Bree's game too and love to see her on the field, but she's got a couple of veteran backs to beat out if she wants to play ninety. The player they're subbing in was only the WUSA Defensive Player of the Year in 2002.
I know what you mean. But Slaton is a world-class player in her own right and as the season wears on it'll benefit the Courage to have both of them ready to go.
Fotop and Prinz looked great tonight. The second goal (Prinz assisted by Fotop) was lovely. Mia was utterly ordinary. She had very poor service and when she did get the ball, she had no space with which to do anything. We did a MUCH better job of shutting her down than we did last time. She seemed to be missing Wambach quite a bit (by the way, where was Abby?) There were long stretches where this game was very lackluster but there were some real flashes of brilliance in the second half from the Courage.
Great crowd tonight. I sit right behind the visitors bench and saw the freak jump the fence and ask Mia to autograph his program. The best part, okay it is not all that great because this could have been a very bad icident, was when the trainer for the Freedom jacked the guy up against the wall and basically lifted him back across. Anyway, an overall good win for the Courage. Nice goals by Prinz and Fotop. The last Prinz goal was set up by a beautiful lay off from Fotop. She had a good game tonight.

I agree. The Courage played like a team, the Freedom didn't. The passing by the Courage was right on, for the most part and the goal by Prinz, with her passing the ball to Fotop and back to her again was brilliant. All a part of being in the right place at the right time and reading the game, and your team mate, just right. I can't recall who chased the ball down, but a freedom player reached it from going over the endline and crossed it into the box BUT NO ONE WAS THERE! I don't understand that. How are you not charging along with them, to the box, so that if they do just that, you have a shot at goal??? As for Mia being just "ordinary" last night, yes, there were no flashes of her brilliance there. I DO credit that to both Abby and Jacqui not being there. She had no decent playmaking behind her, to feed her the ball and let her do something with it. Also, she has been playing midfield ALL season with the Freedom, with HER being a playmaker and that has worked really well. But she needs the targets of Wambach and Little to work with as well. As I've said in the Freedom forum before, the Freedom win IN SPITE OF Gabarra and NOT because of him. I blame a lot of the lack of cohesion and any kind of "plan" on him. N~
It was Skylar's twin. A very nice cross from Jacqui. The problem though was that there were three Courage and Luckenbill in the area. Prinz's first goal was nice. Once she got Moore turned around she got a step or two on her and there was no way in hell Moore was gonna be able to stop her. I do believe it was Stoecker that was in front of Prinz but Stoecker (I think) was facing towards the goal and looking over her left shoulder....no way she coulda stopped Prinz. There was no one to Prinz's left. Prinz had a pretty good look at at the goal.
