Anyone see Pirlo's free kick goal in the Milan Derby last weekend, it was the most spectacular that I have ever seen. It was from about 35 yards and bent up over the wall will a sharp twist heading into the top left corner then suddenly took a turn in mid-flight for top right corner, the keeper was dumbfound and the announcers were critical of the newer light weight ball.

The kick was brillant and Pirlo may have the best free kick in the world right now.

Diagram's pretty good, the only thing I don't like is the hair style you chose for the men in the wall ;)

I didn't see it....but by comparison....was it better than Roberto Carlos's free kick in that friendly against France shortly before the 98WC ?

Pirlo didn't score in the derby or even take a fk in the derby

Shevchenko, when he's in a goal drought is a big baby, and no matter the probabilty of Pirlo's likelyhood to score compared to anyone else on his team or field by the farthest probabilty as well, Schevchenko takes them.

You're right, he did score a fk in that match, which was very late last month, the 27th of Nov prob? That was the most recent Serie A fk he scored.

Ronaldinho's freekick clip is corrupted.. and i still think Carlos fk is the best .. nevertheless, great fk by pirlo.. i see he can do many kinds of different fks

Pirlo strikes a knuckle ball as well as anybody I've ever seen. He'll do this when the spot of the free kick is more or less on frame.

This one was an especially good example. Pirlo also hit one against Juventus that dipped down at the very end...it looks like the keeper should have it the entire way, and it skips right in front of him.

The one in the clip, I couldn't tell. It was from this past weekends match, I don't keep up with Serie A that well, and last match I could remember was the derby.

In the clip the keeper dives to his right, in the goal I'm talking about the keep talks a couple of steps to the right to go after it and it breaks to his left and he's totally moving the wrong way.

That was what was so obviously cool, the keeper moving one way and the ball breaking the other on him.........anyway................ you get the idea.

BILL... you overrated that goal soooooooooo much..
it wasnt that great, IMO, of course..
not exactly your ordinary FK, but it didnt have near the break i was expecting..
it almost just flattened out as opposed to double breaking...

I watched that about 10 times now and it looks like the ball is deflected off someones head in the wall. The spin totally and angle of the shot totally change once it just clears the wall.

Still, it will never compare to the brilliance of Lee Carsley.

I saw the freekick on tv, and from the angle that it was taken, it wasn't very clear what actually happened.

There was an intrerview with him, and he said he copied it from the style of Juninho Pernambruca (Lyon).

He says he is only starting to get good at it now.

He also said that the secret is that he can only do it with Nike balls. The other balls supposedly don't dip enough.
