Send your e-mails to MLS now! I'll thoughout one suggestion to close the deal with PSV. Get them to comitt to some MLS friendlies.
for how much? Should they sell Beaz for $200?Is there a fire-sale on in MLS? The league sold McBride for a reasonable price, as they did Howard. If those teams won't pay a good price for him, they must not want him very badly. Why would investors want into a league that dumps their best players without a good price?
Shouldn't they wait until PSV makes an offer? Does Beasley have a say or is the goal to make you happy?
There is an article in the Chicago Sun Times where Beasley states very clearly that he wants to go now, so never mind on this question.
Because, of course, in footie if you don't get something, eventually you get nothing. MLS got nothing for a number of guys. You scoff at 200k but that is 10% of a salary budget. I don't know what business you're in, but if I have the option of selling an asset today for 10% of my salary budget or give it away next year, I can tell you I'm looking at that very closely. If Bease really does want to go, and his contract is up next year, it's time to move him. This is a very simple game. Teams sell on full year before a contract expires if they expect to sell at all. Sometimes, they get cut rate in the season before if a buying team needs cover (now only possible at the winter break). Then it a "free transfer" which will get MLS nothing at all.
except, you forgot one crucial thing: the MLS business plan is based upon growing US soccer, not selling players.I would guess MLS would rather have a year of Beas, rather than an extra million bucks. So, they will sell him for a fair price, not a bargain price. They sold Howard and McBride when they got a good offer for them, but not before. If they get a cheesy offer for Beas, why should they sell him? I also would like to see Beas in Europe, but only when MLS gets a solid offer. People on these boards talk about respect alot-the start of respect is to respect yourself. If we believe Beas is a damn fine player( and I do),then we expect a good offer- otherwise, no sale.
"We've been getting offers for [DaMarcus] the past five years. [This offer] was not of a level I would recommend the league to accept." -- Chicago Fire general manager Peter Wilt.
Thread on Yanks Abroad forum states latest rejected offer was 1 million pounds from Southhampton (about $1.8 million). Prolly means they're waiting on a better offer from PSV.
Bingo. MLS rejected Man U's first bid for Howard, and eventually got a larger fee from them. Euro clubs have to understand that MLS will demand a fair price for their players. If they don't want to pay, they better be prepared to wait and hope another team doesn't buy him. Convey's transfer to Tottenham was a reported $1.2 million. There is no way that a player like Beasley is worth basically the same as Convey. Beasley is worth at least as much as Howard, and maybe more. I don't want to be the bargain bin for Europe. Nothing wrong with being a feeder league, but no need to accept any miniscule bid.
