its because thats a bigger salary than he'd likely make anywhere in latam, gs.

this is why mls could become a destination...

if they get rid of the salary cap for teams (give players decent wages)..... it will be a top league in the americas (I say in 5-10 year)...

everyone wants to live in the US and sooner or later the league will get better stars... they just need to stop going after washed up big names.... for the price Seattle paid to the CK model (think he is going to make mORE MONEY THAN ANGEL !!! Who scored 20 a season)

For the CK model money u could have bought easily the starting GK of Paraguay the best team in SA and paid him for like 2-3 years. OR the starting keeper of Colombia, a starting CB, Montero and more.... Seattle would have been a better team saved millions and not had a 5 million buck bench warmer(cough like reyna cough)

either way good luck with ur season ur my 2nd fav team after NYRBs now (Angel is still god)

They can pay players more than a River or a Boca will NOW, even with the salary cap.

I don't have an issue with the Cap, it keeps parity in the league and also insures that they are developing young American (and I guess now South American) talent...

Wow I didn't know that MLS teams can pay better salaries than the 2 clubs you mention. IIRC the cap is set at 2.6 million this season and if you have 3 players at 300 thousand a piece it doesn't leave much money for the rest of the 21 players.

Ryu any idea what the payout at Boca is this season?

No idea! But I don't think that its a straightline distribution of the salary cap. There are players making a lot less and a lot more - the MLS league minimum is under $50k.

That said, I don't think that Boca or River are paying many of their players over $300K a season. You also have situations like those that have occured at River and Newell's where often players are owed salaries and bonuses for long periods, whereas the MLS is gonna be a steady payout.

This is a bit outdated but supports the point.

"En el fútbol argentino, no todos los jugadores son millonarios. Es exclusivamente patrimonio de ciertas estrellas de los clubes grandes, de los más grandes. Boca, claramente, es el que mejor paga. Hasta este incremento en el sueldo de Palacio, Guille y Palermo tenían los contratos top, con cifras cercanas a los 400.000 dólares. Y Ariel Ortega, contrato top de River, no llega a los 300.000."

LOL, sometimes I wonder about your futbol knowledge and your bias views toward certain players. Fredrik was no tool in England specially not at Arsenal and was a consistent starter at West Ham while healthy. He's not Fredrik of old but could still contribute in the EPL except he would like to make some money with the last 2-3 years of his futbol career.

fred ljumgberg o como se llame: is also a sub in seattle....does not make any sense to import an expensive player to ride the pine!

and pretend he will sell tix via image/mkting...only?

I like to see Hurtado in that main XI..posted above, they had no one on that position, or he came and took the spot from some one?

other result from today, river 1-2 red bulls.....I wonder if JPA played vs falcao? feel free to answer in the other thread.

Taylor Graham, another CB, has a broken bone in his foot. Out 6-8 weeks. Hurtado is in. Hopefully he plays well enough to earn it.

I have never been so impressed and glued to a TV set from watching an MLS game.

    1. Maybe it's because there are 3 Colombians playing
    2. Maybe it's because Freddy Montero is making waves
    3. Definitely the supporters in Seattle deserve two thumbs up - what intensity!!
