http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1043550407/view Assuming he can get a passport in three weeks. I'm thinking that can probably be taken care of......
Since I don't know how they completely work, bear with me... Since Freddy is from Ghana, and it is documented that he has travelled overseas to tourney's in Italy, would it be foolish to assume that he already has a passport??
He would not have a US passport yet.. FIFA requires you not only have one of the nation you are playing for but that you produce it at the location and at a time prior to the match after you arrive for the match. I can't remember who it was at the moment but one of our youth players had to sit out a match here in the states this year because he forgot his passport. EDIT: It was EDIT: Bobby Convey../EDIT.. FIFA also uses the passport to verify age. Give Freddy this link! http://www.americanpassport.com/
What about the tourney's he travelled to in Italy, from the US?? How was he allowed to compete in those? I am guessing it wasn't a FIFA sanctioned tourney??
When he traveled before, it was not for the national team but for a regional team. Also, he can travel on a visa, which he is doing just now in Costa Rica actually (where again, he will play for a regional team, not the national team). full article on U17 team coming up later this evening on the site.
Thanks.. That makes sense.. I would guess he'll post it here also. Has anyone heard anything more concrete on which Spanish language network will be carrying the U-17 Championship? I saw an ad but failed to note which network it was. They were doing a preview of their soccer coverage for 2003.
very glad to hear that someone is covering it live. Was that the qualifying or just the final? Speaking of which, seriously, what would the price be for a week in Guatemala, including transportation, anyone?
I can't answer that but I think it was the finals. Soccer TV will know.. If we don't learn soon, someone can email him.. I've bugged him too much lately..
Hopefully its Univision. Telemundo is not carried on basic cable around here and thats all I have. When you said which Spanish channel, you were referring to one of these two?
I'm not sure because our system carries every one of them.. We have about 15 ( I just counted) Spanish language channels here. Anyone you can name, we get so I just don't know which one it was. Perhaps Galavision.. but like I said, the guy at Soccer TV always seems to know these things way in advance..
I saw this week that a one-way flight to guatemala city would be $353, and a two-way is in the low $600's. this is from columbus, by the way.
thanks for the info everybody. i'm surprised nobody has arranged a soiree to celebrate Freddy's good news.
OK, but didn't you also shotgun 8 beers when you saw Vanney might be loaned to Nancy, and after Creighton lost in the NCAA tourney, and after Wales and Slovenia drew 1-1 in the qualifying for the 1999 U20 World Championships? I'm detecting a trend here. Classic post TSO.
quote thread title: "Freddy is IN" --------------------------------------------------------------------- sweeeet! now we all just want to see the young man play. first tv coverage will be when?
His local Congressman, assuming he has good staff in his district office, should be able to get it done in a couple of days.
pass I'm pretty sure being in Washington he can get it in a day or maybe it only in Philly and New York you can do that.
Re: Re: Freddy is IN As someone the Congressman used to say "do this" to, I can assure you this will be no problem. In this case. the Congressional office probably won't even be involved.
