Contract will enter into force when the player passes through the club’s medical examination. Freddy Adu firstly gained attention when he signed his first professional contract at the age of 14. The midfielder played almost 100 games in Major League Soccer before moving to big European club Benfica. Adu has been one of the most media attention gained player in his age. To this day Adu still has huge fan base and he has nearly half a million followers in social media. Kuopion Palloseura intends to organize a press conference about the new signing at a later date. It's a 1 year contract for a team in the Finnish top flight. Fellow Yank and former New England Rev, Stephen McCarthy. is also on their books this year. I apologize in advance for this thread @bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent
YES!!. The gift that keeps on giving. Their home "arena" holds 5,000 people (2700 seats) in the 8th largest town in Finland. I'm fascinated by this guys decision making. Mid table team in the first division of Finland. Oookkkkkaaaaayyyyy?
Anyone got a copy of the collage with Freddy and all his club shirts at signings so we can update it?
Actually I only did it up to the Union. Someone add Bahia and Jagodina http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/freddy-adu-in-bahia.1984250/page-25#post-27573029
Honestly, I wish it had been the Swedish D2; at least they have a full season - Finland is April-October with a 4-week break in the middle - and (some of) the teams have real support. Finland's D1? Not really. The league is 35th in Europe, seven places below Serbia and with a far lower coefficient (8.2 versus Serbia's 13.9). Average compensation in 2010 was 24k Euros per year - accommodation and healthcare included. The club itself is good by Finnish standards. They came second in 2010 and 7th in the last 2 seasons. There's a Georgian striker there who's been a bit of a noise in Finland over the last 6 years: he washed out of the Georgian top division, which is pretty dire I can assure you. He's in USL Pro to all intents and purposes.
Thread title: Are we Finnished yet?: Adu at Kuopion Palloseura or Learning to Finnish: Adu at Kuopion Palloseura (Hat tip to Rabiefowlah for no. 2)
Yes! Give em Hell Freddy. Anyone know where to get the Jersey? I think I'm starting a collection. I already have Bahia.
I wish him the best. Lord knows the USA is not so flush with attacking talent that I'm writing him off.
I'm just glad he didn't officially retire. Test your knowledge of Freddy Adu's odyssey: http://www.sporcle.com/games/mleclair11/freddy-adu-clubs I only got 9 of 11 on my own Sporcle quiz. Whoops.
Which is a bit of a surprise. Historically Finns have been regarded as unusually honest. Paying low wages, paying them to d-grade journeymen whose careers are going nowhere, who'll leave the country whatever happens are undoubtedly the main factors.
