That would be the very humble thing to say. I doubt we'd ever hear Landon say that he's flat out better than someone, ...other than a Bayer Leverkusen player . It's also a very diplomatic thing to say, considering they'll probably line up together at some point in the future. Of course Landon wasn't really asked who was better either, he just came out and said it. Very nice of him, indeed.
Of course, the other question is - do we agree? Who has seen both in action? Who thinks who is better, right now?
Of course, if you read the real interview - not the synopsis on MLSnet, you'll see what LD really said - Freddy is better than he was AT 14 and, quote, "I might not be that good now." Not saying Freddie is better; just giving props to Freddy, making a slight joke (LD does have a sense of humor) , and pleasing everybody. He's quite the diplomat.
