Ex-Rev Zak Ibsen and the U.S. beach soccer team went 1-2 at the World Cup, losing to Brazil and (gulp) Japan. They did beat Poland, though.

Zak "Don't call me 'Henrik'" Ibsen has made a decent career out of beach soccer. Glad to hear that he's still playing, even if he is nearing his late 30s...

Sawatsky off the bench...those were the days :)

I heard their chief European rivals are the Gorter-led Dutch and Rob Ukrop-led Greeks.

Whatever happened to the original Brazilian Revs experiment, Welton?

Nothing shameful about losing to Japan, who made the semifinals in the last beach soccer championship. In fact, we were in their group then, losing out to them and Portugal (finalist).

I called it a "Group of Death" at the time, but it was pointed out to me that there are no Groups of Death in beach soccer. I stand corrected; it was a "Major Bummer of a Group, Dude."

Also, I watched the game vs. Poland on Telemundo last weekend. I don't think Ibsen appeared until late in the game.
