Looks like Frankie doesnt want to join the Colombian Nationals anytime soon. Oh well if he ever gets Mexican Nationality i would welcome him to el Tri with open arms..
Dont get get down on yourself. He is just rooting for them because 5 of his America buddies are on there. He is an hincha of the only America club team in the Americas. I think that is what he is How many games has he played for Colombia? I remember that he was called upon to play the Mexico-Colombia game last May in Azteca.. but did suit up afterall. That was around the time he got injured. I thought when America signed him, he would be a good acquisition. I saw him play a couple times when he was with America de Cali. I just hope he can get back to form
I am not getting down on myself. All I know is rooting against Colombia and hoping for a win by Mexico is a shitty thing. If what you say is true about him being a "hincha of the only America club team in the Americas" than he really is a traitor seeing as he was born in Cali. Not sure how many games he played for the national team. However, I don't think he will be adding to that total any time soon.
Oviedo can't play for Mexico, he already played with Colombia. And that's a great attitude. Pretty soon you go to brazil looking for players to recruit for the Tri.

If what you say is true about him being a "hincha of the only America club team in the Americas" than he really is a traitor seeing as he was born in Cali. I am just messing with you. He has stated numerous times that he is very happy playing and living in Mexico. He was very grateful with America not trading him or realeasing him during the 8 month rehab. His contract is up at the end of 2003. I hope he gets back to form because I know if he does he could give us 2 good years. He is about to turn 30 in September. Not sure how many games he played for the national team. However, I don't think he will be adding to that total any time soon. Other than that article, there was another interview where he said that he was at peace with himself about not being on the Colombian National team. He said that they have a different way of doing things over there which he does not see eye to eye with or something along those lines. I always wondered why he didnt participate that much with the national team. I thought he was a good player, not a guaranteed starter, but at least some one who could give that assist. He was crucial for America in the Copa Libertadores... but he got injured. In a way that was a blessing because some of the younger Mexicans were given the opportunity to play and to attack. Couple days ago on FSWE, they had the River-America Cali game from a couple years back and I saw Oviedo on there. He did good. Exicting game. When do you think Andres Chitiva well get his call to the Colombian National team? Do you think he wont get it? In Mexico, they think he is a very good young player with a bright future. He is liked a lot in Pachuca. He is one of the fan favorites.
When we can beat Argentinas B'Team then there will be no need to call up Nationalized players. Dont confuse this with Nationalizing players because of lack of talent. All im saying is if Zinha or Pinheiro can add depth to the national team then why not give them a fair chance, they allready are Mexican.
Re: Re: Frankie Oviedo hincha de México The only way I would ever be in favor of having a player play for the national team without being actually being born in Mexico is: 1. the player had at least one Mexican by birth parent 2. spent his infancy & adolencense in Mexico. (I have met numerous Americans and Germans who have kids in MExico and the kids are as patriot as I am because that is all they know. Sure they love thier parents home country, but they bleed red, white, and green.) This stuff about just living in MExico or working in MExico or marrying a Mexican doesnt cut it for me.
Oh no, not again! I hope they don't talk Andresito into become a Mexican citizen and drafting him into the Tri. They're doing a lot of that these days.
I'm not sure if and when Andres Chitiva will get a call up. I know he was not on Maturana's initial list of players he would be calling up. "He said that they have a different way of doing things over there which he does not see eye to eye with or something along those lines." Sounds to me that he was justify the fact that he was not good enough for the team. Like I said he is a loser tratior and now I totally understand why NACIONAL hated him so much.
Re: Oh no, not again! I think he may do that in his own. Pachuca signed him to another 2 years. He brought either his mom or his girlfriend and bought a house in Pachuca. He has already been in Mexico for 2 years. Technically speaking, he is elgible for citizenship at the end of 2003 thats in case the laws havent changed.
Pinheiro is way past his Libertadores playing days and shouldn't be called. A player has to be twice as good to show something to even be considered for the Tri. This isn't a freaking club team, but the National team for our country. If they aren't good enough to play for theirs, they shouldn't deserve to be there.
