Now what do you say about Frankie Hejduk in a crew uniform???? It's just a rumor -heard from an agent- for now. Who knows what will develop???
But just for the sake of interesting discussion thought I'd throw it out there.

At least 1 hippy got a haircut... I wonder if he would tailgate before games with our hippies from Indy? That would be kinda cool.

As for soccer, well I'm not sure what to think. He certainly elivated his play during the WC, but I feel that was a passing high. It would certainly be interesting to have somebody with that kind of speed on the the D-wing... right behind Freddy. Could go either way.

Didn't Frankie get sent off at his last appearance in Crew Stadium?

Isn't Frankie pretty much in the doghouse already with his club in Germany?

In that case, having his speed on the backline or even in midfield wouldn't be a bad thing for the Crew ...

He is playing for a wretched team in Switzerland right now, St Gallen. He has gotten sent off at least once and has not been a fan favorite due to his high salary and the team's poor performance (they allowed double digit goals in one game). I think it was a permanent deal that he left on from Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool SC - thanks for the correction. I keep forgetting that Hedjuk was condemned to a weak Swiss team ;)

If Frankie Hejduk were to ever play for Columbus, Jason Farrell should be brought in for one training session so he can crack Hejduk in the face with a high elbow, forcing Hejduk to wear a Zorro mask for a while. Then everything would be all square.

If we do that ;) the Crew need to sign Cle Kooiman or Lubos Kubik so McBride can get some payback for all those damned elbows he got over the past 5 years :p

Agreed....the guy has some talent...and the one thing u can't teach, speed. And he's quite better than the stuff we currently have on the back.

If Hejduk were to play for Columbus, at which position would you slot him? Outside back or outside midfield?

Outside wing is more of a need, but I think I'd play him at right back and help our defense out.

For one, I hope this rumour has some truth to it. I would love to see Frankie in Crew yellow this season.

Hmmmmm, maybe there is something here. Now 3 defenders are shopped around - Torres, McCharthy, and Dunseth???? (same source as before) Sounds like clearing up space for Hejduk. Or maybe I'm just hallucinating.

Which World Cup was a fluke? In 1998 where he was a consistent offensive threat coming from the back?

Or the 2002 World Cup where he played some outstanding defense?

He is a lot better player now than he was when he left - and he was pretty good when he left. I hope he does come back to MLS and you guys would be lucky to get him.

Correct me if I am wrong, I think Frankie is a right side player. So, we could not trade Tores which is a left back with Frankie without doing something else.

I'd unload Chad M. for Frankie if the salary cap works out.

I think Hejduk would be a nice fit at either fullback for the Crew. It's clear that Andrulis likes wingbacks that can attack, and Hejduk might be a little like Milton Reyes under Andrulis, in that he'd have the recovery speed and defensive skills to play fullback while spending much of his time attacking.

I know Hejduk was and is quite accustomed to wealth maximization, so his salary might be a stumbling block, as he's no longer a spring chicken and isn't going to get any more chances for big money if he comes to MLS.

How much can he be getting paid in Switzerland?

If he wants to get some endorsement $s he needs to come back here now.

I really don't think that he'll be getting too much endorsement money, unless some surfer magazine suddenly becomes a sponser of MLS.

I think he would be a great addition to the team, but I just don't see how he's going to make it to Columbus. MLS just loves to give out these "marquee" players to other teams. I think it is more likely that IF he joins MLS, that we'll see him in Dallas or New York. You could even throw DC into that mix since they own 2 major allocations. The only shot I see us of getting him would be for DC to pick him up and us to trade for him.

However, if even half of the US-Euro players that are rumored to be interested in MLS even sign, then I'm sure we will eventually get one.

If you are just throwing this out there and there is no truth to it you are quite an *********************.
