All of the guys from the SCSR are here tonight. I am very surprised by the professional job that they are doing. See, the media can make an soccer game exciting. They have the ability to hype it up if they want to. Lets hope that they(the media) see the potential of soccer and its passion.
I just saw some highlights of the game from Channel 7, 5 and 9. Each one of those douchebag sportscasters started the commentary off with variations of the all too common line "It's not everyday we talk about the sport called soccer...." F#King buffoons, I can't wait till these clueless retards retire so the young sportscasters who are knowledgable in all sports step up and fill there shoes. I can't wait!
They're only telling the truth. I wouldn't take too much offense from it even if they were being sarcastic; it's something I expect from American journalism. At least they gave coverage.
I got home after eating a BW Hot Dog and A couple of beers and I turn on the TV for higlidgts and CH 13 Opens their newscast with it as their "big Story" then 2 does some stupid thing about the fan that was "atacked" on saturday and said "by the way the Galaxy lost 2 to 0" but at least they are talking about it and the more Press the better
The FSNW2 Pre-Game show was also the only place to see the infamous goal that Naldo scored against RSL. I'm not sure if anyone else caught it but it was there as a highlight they were showing before the game. I had to rewind the play on my Tivo a couple of times just to make sure I wasn't imagining things. For what it's worth...it looked like Naldo was running straight at the goalie, kicked the ball right at him, and the ball bounced off the goalies leg and went into the goal. I also concur about the coverage...good stuff.
Isn't it amazing what can be done with computerized graphical imaging these days? Virtually any fanatasy can be made to seem real on screen.
No. Metrostars and the Rapids have pre-game shows as well. D.C. also may have a pregame show with Comcast Sportsnet but I'm not 100% sure.
Did anyone tape that pre-game show? I wish I had taped it. The sit down interview of David Beckham, conducted by the now infamous "homewrecker" Carolyn Hughes, seemed a bit weird when I watched it. Now I know why it seemed weird: the "tabloid fodder" interviewee was being interviewed by a glorified "groupie" who was soon to become "tabloid fodder" herself. That turned out to be the LAST assignment Hughes did for FSN West 2 before FOX put her in the "freezer" and announced that she has been issued a transfer to Denver.
I heard about Hughes' affair with the Dodgers' Derek Lowe and she was apparantly suspended but now she's going to be transferred, huh? Too bad. She did sound sport savvy and was easy on the eyes.
